Curling Fun Day attracts many
The Winter Weekend activities were in
full swing at the Maitland Curling Club last
Saturday, with a clay of fun curling,
organized by Fay Riney and Bev .Jeffrey.
Eight teams took to the ice for the three
six -end games, that saw lots of fine
'shooting, and the occasional wrong turn or
hogged rock !"
Several first-time curlers discovered the
fun and excitement of the roaring game,,
along with the oda ache and stiffness that
comes with using muscles that don't get
much in the way of exercise.
The over-all winners of the day was the
Bogie-Kellough husband and wife team,
who finished the event with three wins and
a total point score of 46. It wasn't an easy
win for Bogie, however, as Cam had trou-
ble remembering what turn to throw in the
second game, and almost let f )oug Bundy's
team win it. But, with some helpful in-
structions from his wife Pauline, vice -skip
Muriel, and second Jack, he finally ;learn-
ed how the game was played, and went on
to defeat the Bundy foursome 5-4. Bundy
got even after the game, however, and
prevailed to take the nig "Chase the Ace" -
event.

Sheridan finished in second place with, two
wins and 36 points.
in third place with 34 points was Ed
Mu'ndle and his team of Scott Little, Dave
Sheridan and Paul Van Rooy. John Moore
finished in fourth, with 31"points.
All the teams had a great time,, and
would like to thank the many local
businesses who contributed to the prize
table. They were Anstett's Jewellers, Dix-,
ies Flowers, McGee Motors, Larry Jeffrey
Sales Promotion, A&P Stores, and Bev
Jeffrey.
