WINGHAM - Eleven board members at-
tended the February sleeting of Voice fur
Life.
The main topic of discussion revolved
around Ur. Marion I'owell's proposal that
the province of Ontario set up 12 legalized
abortion clinics. This, of course, would
make abortion more accessible. ! A few
months ago Murray Elston, Minister „of
Health, appointed Dr. Powell to look at how
the Province of Ontario could provide better
access to abortion.)
Group members were strongly opposed to
this proposal. Allteadv the situation in On-
tario is shameful. ( 27,325 abortions in On-
tario in 1985 -- the most recent statistics
011
discusses pro.osai
Canada figures)
Obviously' the law is being vastly violated.
The 1969 amendments to the Criminal Code
dedrirsinalued abortion only under strict
circumstances ._ when the life or health of
the mother is threatened. The group will call
upon its 500 members and all 'Christians to
voice their opposition to Dr. Powells'
proposal,
