Miss .k itt's (;rade "2 class has been
learning holy to tell time. They have also
been working on their number facts up to
15. The class has also become busy space
explorers learning interesting facts about
the Sun. the Moon, and the nine planets.
Mrs. 'l'ebbutt's (;rade ('i class has recent-
ly curnpleted their re'sear'ch assignment on
Animal ('overings,-'They were started on
the. project i1) the library under Mrs.
Blake's guidance. ' '('he stridents
•brainsteirmed ideas, gathered information
and organized that information. They
(1 l:ipleteil the assignment under supervi-
'a'srnn of Mrs. Tebhutt and the results are
now displayed in the :senior hall.
Mrs. Scott's (;rade 4 class is studying
Fruits, The class is doing research in the
library on the subject. The class brought
with' things Iron) home and made snow
pictures. The Knitting Club has started.
The members have to slake a scarf and a
pair of slippers to get• their stickers for the
awards diploma. 'l'hey wish .Jamey Snow a -
happy -loth birthday. They would like to
thleilk Mr. McQuail and Mrs. I,ogtenberg
forrhelping therm to write alphabet poetry.
Mrs. l •ogtenhvrg also helped with payday.
Mrs. Young's Grade 1-2 students have
started an ''All About Me" unit. This week
is all about :Melanie Nicholson. They read
stories and see films about families and
talk about their mint families. The -grade
one group, has just started their next
reader and the grade two group is finishing
,.up their "Money'' unit.
Mr, ('ulp's (;rade 4-5 c]as5 has been en-
joying sonic edu('0ti01101 games such as
. the catalogia( -matching -game. In this

catalogue or the 1976. catalogue. Once

Mrs. Cameron's,Kindergartern class is
measuring things in their room that are
.one metre long. They measured to find
how tall everyone in their class was. Peter •
Adams is the tallest student at 133 cm
while Lindsay Irvn is the shortest at only
106 cm. •
Last week, K1 were tearing their -phone --"-
numbers,
numbers, addresses and birthdays. They
were really excited about skating on Fri-'
day, .January 23 but they "(rid not get to go
skating on account of the storm. `They
have to wait until -February 6. The
students have brought pictures of
themselves and, their families which are
displayed in a,very interesting album.
`Grade 3, Krakatoa, made snowballs to
eat.. On January 29 they went anowshoe-
ing. They are making Quinzhees. A Quin-
zhee is a kind of snbwhouse. They are also
doing an ice cube experiment.
A Marionette Workshop was held recent-
ly for students in Grades 3-4 with 'a'rtistic
talents and an interest in creative drama.
Three to five students were chosen from
Colborne, flolmesville,. Robertson, Vic-
toria and Brookside. The Students were to
make a marionette and then form groups
to produce and present a play, using the
puppets. The workshop was planned by
' Mrs. D. Graham and'assisted by W. Robin-
son, L. Sygrove, and S. Clarke. Volutlteers
who helped out greatly were Michelle
Brindley, Linda Culbert, Joan Black,
Brenda Wylds, Alice McDowell, Marie
Webster, Mrs. Bleeker and Mrs. Tucker.
A sincere thank you to each of these ladies..
Each child attending the workshop had a
marionette to take home and the consen-
sus was that 'it was' an enjoyable and wor-
thwhile workshop.
