Sailors begin round robin series here Friday
The Goderich Sailors are hoping to make
a- ,teau_aeasan' ....of their. OHA _Junior 'C'
hockey playoffs.
After winning only one game and tying
four in their regular season schedule, the'
Sailors begin playoff action here this Fri-
, day at 8:30 'p.m: against the Port Elgin
Bears. The Sailors, Bears and the
Wingha•m Ironmen are playing a double
round-robin home and home playoff series,
the winner of which will advance to the
league finals against either Hanover or
Walkerton who are playing a best -of -nine
semi-final series.

It has been 'a tough year for the Sailors.
After almost folding at the first of the
- season because of a lack of players, they
have struggled through the year with little
success pointwise, but the team's play has
improved and they now have a full roster
of players, many of whom are eligible to '
return next year. Team spirit is good and
the effort is there, even though the talent is
still somewhat lacking.
This was evidenced here Friday when
the Sailors wei . unable to stay with the.
Barons who were obviously, much bigger.
stronger and faster than the Sailors. The
Barons outscored them 5-0 in the first
period and 8-0 in the third. Only in the se-
cond when the Sailors gave it a total effort
were they able to stay close.. The Barons
,outscored them 2-1 that period.
