On the night of Thursday, Feb. 5, in Mr.
Scratch's elassroom ,and the staff room,
seven windows were hreken but no one
entered. As a result, Mr. Scratch's classhas
Moved into Mrs. Smith's room until the win-
dows have been replaced. If anyone knows
of anything having to do with this please
• contact Robertson School or the police.
Thank you for your -cooperation.
Mrs. Smith's class have gone bowling and
are having lunch at McDonald's.
Mrs. Dyck's..class has been paired up -with.
their French penpals in Plessisville. 7A has
been busy for the past week gathering

received their letters and were very
pleased.
The Junior girls All-star volleyball team
and their peer coach, Julie Campbell have
been practicing faithfully 'each day for their
upcoming tournament at Victoria School.
- Mrs. Cocker and Mrs. Scratch have been so
pleased with the girls positive manner and
attitude. We wish them all good luck in
. representing our school at the tournament.
Also Mrs, Scratch'sgrade threes are
celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday Feb.
13 at 2:00. p.m.

We are only at.the beginning of the second
day of the "Great Owl Book Fair" at
Robertson but Miss broadwell reports that
already the foirhas been 'a tremendous sue -
cess. -In regard, to the total amount of books '
sold, in one day we' reached 89'pereent of the
tetalsales; Value 'of, the Book Fair which was
held- at Robertson last. spring. A' heart -felt
thank you iSthereforeexterided from' Miss
-Broadviell to all the parents, students and
teachers who came to the, Fair and made

endeavours.
We are very lucky to have the ICON coni
in o.ur school for two weeks. Each
class -will get; two or three .turns using the
ICON's. The:educational . programs - and..
learning how.tense the conaputer. are some
.of the extra benefits that having the com-
puters at our school brings. •
On Feb, 3. Mr. Scratch's Grade 6 went to
West Wawanosh. They learned how to walk..
and play games on snowshoes,. • ' •

and the district competition will be held in
Scaforth. The .Provincial Senior. Games

On February 6, some of the classes went
skating at Lucknow Arena. Classes that
went included Kindergarten and Rooms 3, 7,
8, 9, 11 and Portable 2. The other classes will
go on February 13. This is an opportunity
for children to skate under supervision and,
for beginners to get a supporting hand from
older students.
Mrs. Young's Grade 1-2 class has been
working on -All About Me" unit. Last week
was 'alr about 'Melanie Nicholson and, this
week is all aboat. Devon MacDonald. The
grade 1 group Ras been working with 3-1)
shapes and the grade 2 group has just finish-
ed a big unit on money.
• Kindergarten registration was held •at
Brookside on Thursday, February 5 with
County Health Nurses on hand to help.
There were 42 children registered for
Kindergarten . at Brookside in September
1987. ••
On 'Thursday, Mrs. Ottewells' grade 3
class had Mr. ' W. Robinson in and did
drama. We played a concentration game'
called Lawyer. . The person beside you is
your lawyer and must talk for you. We also
have Valentine booklets and centresnow. In
art we cut a black blob and pasted it onto
' white Paper and coloured in rows a rOund the
blob. •
Mrs. Clarke's grade 3', Krakatoa are
finishing their cold water' books and this
Week they had a White and Fluffy Day. On
Friday, Mrs. Clarke gave us all a paper
snowflake. We were to remember to wear
white on Monday. Well; we were wondering
what we were going to study. Can you
guess? • Popcorn!. We wrote a story on our
own special 'kernel of Cern: Then we ate a
bunch' of popcorn. , We didn't eat much
lifrich. And then we had a contest to see who
wore themost white and Chris Curran won.
So that was White and Fluffy Day. We are
also learning times tables ( for example 2x3
is 6.). We are introducing Glenn Ferguson on
Day 4.
Mts. Tebbutt's grade 6 class has just
finished thier preliminary round of
'speeches. The semi-finalists are Matthew
Strawbridge, Paddy McCann, Janice
Webster, Nathan Daer; Heather Jefferson,
Dana Park, Darryl Gibson, Jodie 'Riley,
Jodi Webster, Jessica Fairbairn, Barb
Nivins -and Michael Cere. These speeches
will be competing on 7hursday.and Friday,
'solhat we will have. two wiancis,qe.Ntokekir
for the final competition in the school
auditorium on February 12 at 1 p.m.
Miss,Mather's grade 1 class has been busy
doing bear activities, songs and reading
bear stories. Next 'week our teddy bears will
be coming to school to join as for a teddy

our discussion of time - we will never belate
again.
On Friday January. 30, grade 4 room 8
went to the West Wawanosh Conservation •
Area to play Inuit Games. When they came
back they ate lunch and had recess and then .
went to thegym to watch a play put on by
the Erewhon Theatre, Also we would like to
thank Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Logtenbero
for coming in on Pay Day.
We have just cornpleted our senior road
hockey and broomball houseleague and our
junior volleyball houseleague. Congratula-
tions to team 4 in road hockey, team B in
• broomball and team 8 in volleyball. We will
scion begin our junior floor 'hockey
houseleague and the seniors will soon be do-
ing basketball.
Our junior girls and boys volleyball teams
will travel to GOderiCh on • February 11 'to
compete in a tournament. Good luck to both
teams.
The pupils in Mrs. Worsell's grade 5 class,. •
have started a novet study on such animal
-stories' as Lad, a Dog: The- Incredible
Journey, Just Plain Cat and Black Beauty.
Ms. Graham visited Grade.5 last week to do
a lesson on focal point. it also turned out to
'be a lesson on The Perils of Paint.

Kindergarten classes 1-2 would like to thank
Mr. Don Cameron for the, beautiful doll ,
house and elephant puzzle. ,
Mrs. Jewitt's Grade -2 class is starting a •
unit on money. Oar 'class. has cut out some
paper money to help us. We also would like •
to wish Billy Tucker a happy; 8th. birthday. . •
