But, for 58 students at Goderich District Collegiate Institute, that particular (.lay represents the beginning of a two-week trip to a coun- try that otherwise many of there would probably never get thachanr,'•e to visit. The 58 students make up the (U)('I con- cert band who, along with music teacher - band conductor Al ,Mullin and chaperones John SiWillwuod and Shelley Warr, both GI)CI tewhers, will be travelling to. England to attend the Harrogate Festival, an international music festival now in its 16th year. • • A total of approximately 2,000 students comprising bands, choirs and dance troupes .from North America, the United igdorn and Eururiean countries will des- . tend upon Harrogate located 200 miles north of London, England and 200 miles south of Edinburgh, Scotland) for about two weeks I March 29 -April 9, 19881 to take part in the music festival. Culp noted. • The first Awn payment for next year's trip is to.bemade'Ap.ril 1st of this year. Culp noted tlat each student was asked to pay $150 towards the trip themselves at the beginning. They will spend about three days in London, England and are encouraged to perform whilein the city, while the remaining time spent at the festival. The students will be 'staying with families in Harrogate. Unlike billeting, the families are paid to take in • students and the horses are approved by festival organizers.
