. Mr. Herman's Grade 8 class • finally has
the chance they had all. been waiting for-
• their individualized novel study this. past
week. The students were able to choose.
"their own -books and complete a variety of
activities concerning that novel.. What more ,
could a student ask for • from their English
Program. " •
Mrs. Brown's Grade l's are terrific
readers. Most of them are now reading
their own books and stories. They are also
- doing snow activities and they think that
they. helped bring the snow to Goderich by
• decorating their • rooms with snowflakes,
snowmen and snow sculptures.
The Grade 5 pupils in Mr. Currie's class
have been studying the advantages of a
computer word processors in their com-
puter clasSes this week. They have been
busy unscrambling and editing a mixed-up
story. Many pupils in the room now have ac-

ing the computer to Write their Creative

Idol Day held at Colborne School
Idol Day was a success. Everyone dress-
ed as their favorite star. Storming the walls
were Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Pee Wee
Herman, the Statue of •Liberty along with
'many others.
In the library, 16 -Icon computers were be-
ing used all last week. Each class was able
to use them. Everyone thinks the Com-
puters •are neat. Thanks to the Board of
Education. '
Grade 2-3's have been studying snow.'
They enjoyed building snow people outside
their window. They are also singing songs
about the cold. '
. Along with building snowmen,. -January
brings speeches to the senior classes. They
are to be 3-5 minutes long and are due in ear-
ly February. Kindergartens are talking
about months, seasons and time. They have
made paper wrist watches and paper plate
clocks to help them with the time. They
have been doing many activities that have
something to' clawith time. They especially
enjoy singing and acting out Hickory-
Dickory-Dock.
We Would like to extend special thanks to
Mrs. Hardy and Mrs. Fisher for sending us
their Christmas cards. We use them for art
projects.' ,If anyone else had cards that they
would like to. give us, please send them to
the school or give them to a student to bring
in.
Potatoes can be boring but they
can be healthy Colleen advises
DEAR COLLEEN:
Why do parents make us wear snowpants
, hen we don't want to? Girls could wear leg
warmers and boys could wear long johns.
From your friendo
Tammy
DEAR TAMMY:
Parents don't want to take care of you
when you are sick. • se they make you wear
them. Just because there is no snow outside
doesn't mean that it's not cold. I'm a hater
to of snowpants and I want to wear leg
warmers. I don't think boys would ap-
preciate having to wear long johns --• even
though they do.

DEAR KAREN:
Potatoes are healthy. Some people like
them • some people don't. I like them
sometime, but other times they're boring.
