antams lose 84 in Silver Stick
The Goderich Elevator Bantams return-
ed to Watford Saturday and lost 8-4 to
Leamington in the Silver Stick consolation
final.
The locals. got off,to a slow start and fell
' • four goals behind. before 'Brian Lane
scored on a nice pass from Shawn Talbot.
Penalties again proved costly as Leam-
ington tallied three more unanswered
goals. Goderich finally came alive in the
LIu1 u poi luu as Vlu iJ V 1'eill scored an
unassisted goal. Defenceman Mike
Steganstad scored on a hard shot from the
blue line with an assist from Tim Harrison.
Jason Million, after playing a steady game
on defense, finished the scoring assisted by
O'Neill. The final score was 8-4 for -
Leamington.
Next action will be here Sunday,
Janujry 18 against Wallaceburg in the
first game of a round-robin play-off series.
Midgets defeat St. Marys 62-31
by TD
The GDCI midget boys' basketball team
doubled the score on the St. Marys midgets
here Friday, defeating the Salukis 62-31.
The Vikings were led by the 18 -point per-
formance of Brian Corriveau. Pat Donnel-
ly, with 11 points, and Brian Lane, with 10,
were the other Vikingsin double figures.
Shawn Talbot had nine points and Brad
Fisher had eight. Tim Harrison and Adam
Ripley had two 'points 'apiece, for the
Vikings.
Brad, Hayes had 10 points for the Salukis.
The Vikings led 28-18 at the end of the
first half and took a 51-22lead into the final
quarter after outscoring their opponents
23-4 id the third quarter.
SnoCross Racing begins
Snowmobile .and A.T.V. Sno-Cross Rac-
ing returns to Hully Gully, Varna Sunday,
January 18 for the first race of the 1987
season.
Racing will be hot and heavy as 3,and 4
Wheelers battle their way through the
snow. Snowrriobiles, right from the family
machine to -the independent sno-cross
racers will be flying' through the air as
• they compete for top osition. Both the
trikes and snowmobile i}} be racing on a
motocross -style track to provide more ex-•
citing race action. Also featured is a
Snowmobile Cross Country Race to test
both rider and machine endurance.
Not only can you see some great racing,
but Hully Gully is also offeringa free pan-
cake breakfast from 8 - W a.m. Practice
begins at 11 awn. with racing at noon.
Come out and experience the premier
race of the season this Sunday at Hully
Gully. .
