Anderson records a hat.: trick

Brent .Anderson' scored three goals and
added one assist as the Goderich Pee Wee B
team defeated „Clinton 8-1 iii Huron -Perth
action in Goderich on December 27.
Goderich opened a 2-0 first period lead as
Chris Burbine scoredthe firstof•his pair of
goals early' in the game..Mark Melick also
scored to round Out the opening stanza.

Snowmobile-A-Thon'nextSunday
Court Bernmillei- 86, the local Foresters'
Lodge, will be sponsoring its annual
Snownnibile-A-Thon to raise money for
cancer research and cornmdnity• related
projects on Sunday, January -18 (alternate
date is January :25 I. . .
At least half -the proceeds will go to cancer
-i eseai c h, with the. event- scheduled to begin
between 10 a.m. and.12 noon at the Foresters
Lodge- Hall in Benmiller. ,,
This fund raising event would notbe.possi-•
ble without the support of the Colborne,
Snowmobile Club.
The three high pledge earners earn cash,
merchandise, prizes as well as trophies.
All .pledge earners with more than $100. in.'
pledges receive a gas voucher Worth $10.
A hot lunch will be -provided to alt,of the .

The tournament will feature eight
teams; including the host GDCI Vikings.
The Vikings will play- the Parkhill
Marauders in the opening game at 9 a.in.
and will play their s 'oud contest at 3
p.rn.
Games continue all day with the con -
sotaition final scheduled for 7 p.m. and
the championship tilt set for 8:15 p.ln.
Other teams involved are Petrolia,
Aylmer, :Stratford Northwestern,
Strathroy, Cambridge Southwood and
Sarnia St. ('lair.
The junior Vikings will warm up for the
tournament with a Huron -Perth contest
at GD('1 (Friday afternoon against' St.
Marys. The senior and midget Vikings
will also be playing St. Marys.

Goderich Recreation Hockey league games
recently, losing 9-3 to O'Briens Porkers and
defeating the Bedford Flyers 8-3.
A see -saw game between the O'Briens and
the Green Machine after one period turned
into. a rout for O'Briens as they scored six
unanswered goals' in the last two periods to
break open a 3-3 game.after one period.
Dan Duncan led the w'ay for the O'Briens,
scoring three goals. 'Rob Standen and°'l'iiti
O'Brien each scored twice for the .winners.
John MacDonald, Bob Orr and Greg Smith
scored for theGreen Machine.
Bill Lew(:; and Bill Peters each scored
twice as the Green Machine defeated the
REC HOCKEY.

singles in the victory.
In other action, Lakeland Industrial
defeated'llodges-Mill6-4 as Rob.MacDonald

Jacques Villeneuve, Canada's leading
race car driver, defend his world
snowmobile racing title it was announced
last week -by •the -sponsor, -Canadian -Tire.
Villeneuve is, a matter of -fact, confirmed
for five races including Owen Sound and
Peterborough in this province, Valcourt and
St. -Gabriel in Quebec and the world -cham-
pionship in Eagle River, Wisconsin;
Villeneuve and the Motomaster Racing
Team will compete in a minimum of four
Canadian events this winter plus the world
championship-race-in_Eagle-River:

'I'earns (CAIN) World Series for Indy cars.
He captured` the Road. America 200 at
Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin in 1985.
"This is my winter vacation," Villenueve
said. "Some of the other Indy drivers head
south ,for the winter, but I just like to keep
racing. The snowmobiles•are a lot of inn and
I think racing o the ice and snow will keep
me sharp for when Indy racing begins again
in April. I'm looking forward to continuing
my relationship with Canadian Tire and I'rn
also -looking -forward-to-this-winter -when-
we'll have the resources and the support to
go after the world championship'again."
