R MINED HOME. -- On Saturday
mar g last Mr. I. Armstrong went

deughter, Miss May Arinstrong, who,
our readers are aware. met with the
terrible' railway accident at London
some eight weeks ago. Front the
home of friends sbe as conveyed in
a carriage to the Grand Trunk depot
where she was placed in an invalid's
chair and wheeled across the track
behind the coach. It became appar-
ent to Mr. Armstrong that even then
he was not going to get his da,ughter
safely home for just at that moment
a locomotive coupling on to the front
end drove the car beck, audit almost
struck the chair. Mr. Armstrong in
desperation clung to his daughter but
both escaped without injury only re-
ceiving a bad fright. The young lady
Was in the hospital but two months
and while the injured heel of the re-
maining foot is not completely healed

recovery.

Bay street. At 2.15 on Wednesday
the fire was still spreading having
reached the Esplanade and at least
thirty Wholesale houses have been
destroyed. The Queens Hotel was
at frequent times in danger and
caught for the third time, At one
time the fire appeared to be spreading
southwestendangering the Union
Station. The total loss is estimated
at $10,000,000.
