The Clinton Atoms lost 4-3, to Durham in
the championship game at the 28th Annual
Mildmay Atom Hockey Tournament.
The tournament official, Charlie
Ashbury, said the game will go into the
record books as the longest game since the
tournament first began back in 1959. It
took a goal by Durham's Paul Galbriath to
settle the issue at 6:55 of the third overtime
period. It was a good goal as Clinton net
minder Derek Hoggarth had no chance on
a two on one break.
April 1
BLTYH - Larry Walsh, form clerk -
treasurer of the Village of Blyth, was
sentenced by Judge Gary Hunter of the
provincial court on March 25 to 18 months
in jail and a two year probation.
In late May of 1986, village auditors
found irregularities in the 1985 financial
records. After further investigation, it was
discovered that these irregularities dated
back to January 1, 1980 and continued until
May, 1986. Mr. Walsh was subsequently
charged with theft and fraud of $94,905.27
from the village.
In provincial court on October 22, Mr.
Walsh pleaded guilty to the charge of theft
and the fraud charge was withdrawn.
As the case unravelled, it was found that
Mr. Walsh used the money for gambling
purposes.

heads and discuss their concerns.
The Premier's visit started off rather
shaky as a crowd of Pro -Life protesters
gathered, raised their signs and told
Premier Peterson to "remember his pro-
mise" when he stepped out of his car. The
Premier did not acknowledge the pro-
testers with an answer, but turned to spot
"his favorite bakery," which is Bartliffs.
Inside, the decision was made to open
the proposed closed meeting to the public
as the Premier's office thought the Huron
County officials wanted it closed and vice
versa.
The meeting brought out the major con-
cerns of the county, which included
economic development, the widening of
Highway 8 and the present landfill
situation.
"I want this to be an open, frank discus-
sion," said Premier Peterson. "I want to
hear your concerns."
