On December 4 the SHABHA awards night was held at the home of John and Chris Hope of Crediton. Members first had a potluck supper and ,then the awards were given out. The win- ners of individual classes are, Senior Showmanship at halter was Dale Marshall of Dashwood; Showmanship 13-18 was Angela Postma of Clinton; 12 and under was Jennifer Heckman of Exeter. The winner of Leadline 7 years and under was Melissa Marshall of Dashwood. Walk, Jog/Trot-10 years and under was won by Steven Hind - marsh of Huron Park. Open English Pleasure was won by Dale Marshall of Dashwood, Junior English Equitation was won by Jennifer McNutt of Hay. Carolyn Grenier of Exeter won Senior English Pleasure. Janice Bullock of Alymer won the top Jumping. Shirley Bosley of Ravenswood and Dale Marshall of Dashwood tied for first in Novelty Costume Then there was the western classes. Open Command was won by Cam Darling of Mount Carmel Junior Western Equitation was won by Lee Hope of Crediton. Cam Darling won Senior Western Pleasure and Open Western Pleasure. Lisa Storey of Clin- ton won the Western Riding class and Lee Hope won the trail class. Lisa Storey also won the Cloverleaf Barrel Race and Pole Bending. Carl Tyler of Dashwood won the Keyhole class and tied with Lisa Storey for the Texas Speed and Action. With these results the division winners were: High Points English - Jennifer Rnllnpk of Alymer; Reserve - Jennifer McNutt of Hay. High Points Youth 13-18 - Lisa Storey of Clinton; Reserve - Lee Hope of Crediton. High Points Senior - Dale Mar- shall of Dashwood; Reserve - Cam Darling of Mount Carmel. High Points Youth 12 and under - Jennifer McNutt of Hay; Reserve - Jennifer Heckman of Exeter. Open Western - Lee Hope of Crediton; Reserve - Jennifer McNutt of Hay. High Points Gaines - Lisa Storey of Clinton; Reserve - Carl Tyler of Dashwood. Members then held a draw for the transport bandages and blanket with Lee Hope winning it. Business for next year was discussed and then a social time was held. They are now taking memberships for the 1988 show season. Don't go near a fallen wire... even a seemingly dead line can be dangerous. Warn others to keep clear and call Clinton P.U.C. to report the fallen wire. If the line falls across your vehicle, stay inside until the line is removed by a hydro crew. If you must leave because of fire, jump clear without touching the car and the ground at the same time. If there's a live power line touching your car, putting even one foot on the ground can be a fatal move to make. (Anne Chisholm photo) Atom A's drop one but go on to win three straight On December 3 the Clinton's Atom A's took on the Seaforth I hockey team on Clin- ton home ice. Strong offensive play by both teams pro- vided spectators with a fast moving, end to end hockey match. The Clinton squad substantially out -shot Seaforth but couldn't put a puck past Seaforth goal tender Adam Agar. Clinton lost the game 7-0. Agar played three periods of flawless net -minding, turning back a constant supp- ly of Clinton shots. Seaforth goal scorers were Mike Hugill, Mike Devereaux, Mike Watt, and Jeff Flanagan. The following week, Clinton was more successful, winning three games. A strong offensive effort by Clinton on December 9 produced the score needed to break a previous two game losing streak. Jeremy Scherle played his first game with the Clinton team as goal tender, and successfully turned away all Hensall attacks. Clinton were 15-0 victors. Scoring for Clinton were: Ryan Crawford, six, 'late Burro three; Bryan Watson, two; Eike Hoh, two; Paul Vandendool, one; Scott Lobu, one. Assisting for Clinton: Nate Burns, three; Kevin Meade, one; Bryan Watson, three; Ryan Crawford, two; Ben Lobb, two; Scott Lobb, three; Paul Vandendool, one; Mike Hohner, one. Clinton 14 - Elma Logan 1 A home -ice game on December 10 saw the week's second win. Extra efforts to set up organized passing plays were evident, and should strengthen future games. Goal tending was excellent through all periods, shared by Danny Gibbings and Jeremy Scherle. Clinton goal scorers were: Bryan Wat- son, five; Ryan Crawford, three; Nate Burns, three; Paul Vandendool, two; Mike Hohner, two. Assisting on Clinton goals: Nate Burns, four; Ryan Crawford four; Ben Lobb two; Bryan Watson, two; Paul Vandendool, two; Kevin Meade, three; Scott Lobb, one; Mike Hohner, one; Dave Hiltz, one; Ken Colquhoun, one. Clinton 8 - Brussels 2 The Clinton Atom A's travelled to Brussels on December 11. First period play was very closely mat- ched, with Brussels players spending as much time in the Clinton end as Clinton in their's. The score at the end of the first stood at one goal each. Second period play was also tightly con- tested but the Clinton skaters gave evidence that they were adjusting to the harder Brussels ice. Clinton led 3-2 at the end of the second period. Third period play produced five more goals for Clinton, as the team out -skated and out -passed the aggressive Brussels squad.
