A white and early Christmas for Queen's Villa residents
Residents of Queen's Villa, Blyth, were treated to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings
at the Legion on December 2. Those who were unable to attend had their meal delivered
to their room by cooks Kathy Bromley and Darlene McClinchey. The meal was made
possible by a $100 donation by the Blyth Lions Club and was served by Auxiliary
members. (Anne Chisholm photo)

BLYTH - Picture it if you can. the setting
was ideal, as snow had remained after it
began falling on Monday. This made the at-
mosphere perfect, allowing the residents of
Queen's Villa to celebrate an early
Christmas this year.
I had the assistance of my sister-in-law,
Darlene McClinchey, a Home -Care
employee, to help cook a turkey supper with
all of the trimmings.
We then made it a point, for anyone who
was unable to make it to the supper, the sup-
per was delivered to them at their door.
Once all deliveries were made, Darlene and
I returned to the Blyth Legion to sit back
and enjoy supper with everyone else.
Being a member of the Auxiliary, I had
full use of the kitchen and hall. Comrades
Mildred Anent and Ruby Pattison, not only
served everyone, but, they also cleaned up
afterwards. This enables Darlene and I to
return to Queen's Villa, for the second stage
of the evening.
Numerous Christmas presents were then
taken out from under the decorated tree and
were distributed to the appropriate owner.
Chris, Scott, Greg and Tammy (Darlene
and Kathy's children). Everyone received a
gift, as names were drawn last month.
When everything had been opened, Ruby
Philip provided Christmas music on the
piano, allowing everyone to get in the
Christmas mood and join in songs.
Afterwards, coffee and various squares
that Darlene provided were enjoyed and
appreciated.
Thanks to Blyth Lions, everyone was able
to enjoy this pleasant day, as they donated a
$100 cheque earlier this fall. It was received
to help with the weekly Bingos. Thanks to
the merchants and others donating, Bingos
are able to set this cheque aside, it was then
planned for Christmas Supper.
With Darlene's assistance, I was able to
have this special day, in hopes to snake up
for all the time lost earlier this year during
my four months absence. I could not have
done it without her .
The residents' day proved to be the ideal
way to get everyone in the Christmas spirit,
as Christmas is only 16 days away.

Bromleys See Moose Jaw
Recently, the Scotland Chris were off for
another PD day. Even though it was raining
and the atmosphere seemed dull, I was able
to enjoy a very educational drive.
When Bev reached the location he set out
for, I could not help but be very inquisitive
to the surroundings. Numerous pelts were
being stamped to go off to North Bay -mink
fox, muskrat, beaver, the list goes on. This
was ours to observe and was only a few
minutes away from home! That's right. (In-
cidently, we were at Bullet Wildlife Conser-
vation). We observed numerous jaws that
belonged to moose that had been shot up
north, then sent down here. This allowed us
to see the size of their mouth and to see the
teeth inside.
So this is why I really have to watch
myself this week on the way that I word my
story - being somewhere to see "moose jaw"
is so much better than being "in" Moose
Jaw.

Christmas spirit hits
Blyth Public School
BLYTH - Grade 1 and their teacher, Mrs.
Battye, have been very busy making
decorations for their Christmas tree at
Blyth Public School.,
Each student carefully threaded popcorn
and cranberries on to a string to make color-
ful garlands for the tree. Then they crafted
flour and salt decorations which were slowly
baked in the oven and carefully painted by
each student.
The children were proud of their crea-
tions, and their classroom tree looks nice.

Christmas Sights and Tastes
By Debbie Logue
Last week, the kindergarten class went
for a walk around main street, to look at
Christmas decorations and symbols. The
children really enjoyed themselves.
They saw Christmas trees, bells, Santa's
and some poinsettias. A day later the
classes enjoyed some Christmas tastes such
as gingerbread, shortbread, chocolate, pep-
permint, tangerines and nuts.
