Preparing for the
CDCS Christmas concert
CLINTON - First term report cardS were
awarded at the Clinton and District Chris-
tian School November 27. NOT, prepara-
tions for the celebration of Christmas are in
full swing. All students have been assigned
parts — either speaking, singing, or both —
for our school program entitled God's Plan
for Salvation to be presented Thursday
evening, December 17.
Grade 6/7 students are working on a
special project. They are making family
Christmas books to be given to their
families. The books are detailing: what
Christmas means to me, Christmas crafts,
recipes, and pictures; also, they include
pages for the 1987 Christmas diaries, guest
names and photographs.
The Grade 8 students have painted the lob-
by windows with a Christmas theme; all
other grades are busily preparing decora-
tions to give the building a festive air and
portray the meaning of Christmas.
The two co-op students this year from the
CHSS Grade 12 program are Steacy Elliot
working in Grade 1 with Sonya Vannetten.
They are now quite familiar with classroom
routines and their work is a welcome addi-
tion. Thanks, girls, for the beautiful bulletin
board display you prepared at the primary
end.
The greeting card and giftwrap fund rais-
ing campaign is now over. All orders should
have been delivered and money turned in.
Jayne Dykstra from the Grade 6/7 room is
the top salesperson bringing in a total of
$531.04.
The Grade 2 class took a walk to the local
pet shop last week to see for themselves the
physical characteristics of fish. What a
great way to study a science topic.
After school sports have been resumed for
this year. Grade 5-8 students have a chance
to improve skills. Volleyball is the game
they are now working with in the hopes of
preparing teams for future tournaments.
The Monday morning assembly this
month was led by John Huls. The theme was
Advent, and our way of preparing for the
celebration of Christmas. December is
already a busy month at the school.
Jeff Hearn (right) playing John Watson, demonstrates the differences between how a
married woman and a single woman applies powder to Tommy Briggs, played by Ian
Fowles in this scene from the comedy Natalie Needs A Nightie. The Clinton Community
Players presented the play at the Clinton Town Hall on December 3, 4 and 5. (David

Rev. David Woodall got caught with his
pants down in this scene from Natalie Needs
A Nightie. The play, performed by the Clin-
ton Community Players on December 3, 4
and 5, was presented at the Clinton Town
Hall. In this scene, Rev. Woodall, playing
Juniper J. Juniper, was looking for
something to cover up with. Sighting a cor-
ner of this nightie sticking out of a chest, he
snatched it out, probably much to the
chagrin of Natalie, who was hiding hi the
chest. (David Emslie photo)

A buxom Steve Oliver (right), playing Jimmy Wilson, was one of many characters in the
play Natalie Needs A Nightie to pretend to be the wife of Tommy Briggs (Ian Fowles) .
Here, Mr. Oliver tries to convince Juniper J. Juniper (Rev. David Woodall) that he is ac-
tually Tommy's wife, to ensure Tommy's job security. The play, performed by the Clin-
ton Community Players at the Clinton Town Hall on December 3, 4 and 5 kept the au-
dience laughing. (David Emslie photo)
