He explained his course deals with the whole spectrum of recreation, from work- ing with seniors, to working in the correc- tions field. "It's very diversified," he said. In this, the second year of his studies, Mr. Miller will participate in two -six week block placements. He noted that he chose to work in Clinton in municipal recreation for his first place- ment for a number of different reasons. "It has more of a broader background. I'm learning finances and dealing with people, along with office procedures," he explained. During his six week stay, which runs fro.n November 9 to December 18, Mr. Miller will be working on the Jump Rope For Life program, in conjunction with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A tour of duty at the arena will also be in- cluded in his duties where he will take part in such activities as facility maintenance and ticket selling. As well, he will be attending meetings which pertain to the recreation field, such as recreation meetings and arena meetings. Mr. Miller has already had the opportunity to attend a council meeting in town. So far he has been enjoying his time with the recreation department. "It's in- teresting. My heart goes out for Steve (Campbell, recreation director), it's a lot of work." For his next placement, which begins in February, Mr. Miller would like to try out the corrections field. He noted that both his placements will reflect his interests. After completing his course, Mr. Miller would prefer to work in either of these areas. "I'm leaning towards corrections, or municipals, that's the two I want to do. But I'm flexible, I just want a job in the field," he concluded. ram local student Londesboro native Scott Miller will be kept busy working for the Clinton Recreation Department over the next few weeks. Mr. Miller, a Fanshawe College student, is work- ing in Clinton as part of his Recreation Leadership course. Clinton sinks Seaforth The Clinton Atom A hockey team locked horns with a fast skating Seaforth II club on November 19, and persistently ham- mered the net for a 9-2 victory. Goalie Dan Gibbings effectively countered several Seaforth attacks, and with seven minutes of play remaining in the third period the score stood at 9-0 for Clinton. A shutout was not to be, however, as Seaforth slipped two into the crease during the final minutes of play. A significant improvement in team play between defence and forward lines is pro- viding the style needed to handle f:rster- skating opposition. Goals for Clinton were by: Nate Burns, five; Paul Vandendool, one; Dave Hiltz, one; Ben Lobb, one; and Ryan Crawford, one. Gaining assists were: Paul Vandendool, three; Nate Burns, two; Scott Lobb, one; Bryan Watson, two; Mike Hohner, two; and Ben Lobb, one. Drop by the arena this Thursday, November 26, at 7:00 p.m. when the Atom A's meet Mitchell. All cheers welcome!
