Christmas Bazaar Held
The Vanastra Lioness Club held their
seventh annual Christmas Bazaar on
November 21. Although the weather deter-
red the crowds at the bazaar, it was a good
day for the club. Many tables of crafts, bak-
ed goods and raffles filled the Vanastra
Recreation Centre gym.
Shoppers had a good variety of choices.
The penny sale, put on by the Lioness, was
a great success with 99 different prizes.
The door prizes were won by adult Lisa
Campbell of Seaforth and the child's by
Jason Veenstra of Brucefield.
The raffle for the cornflower afghan, held
by the Vanastra Lioness, was won by Lorne
Smith of Ailsa Craig. Lorne's wife is the
president of the Ailsa Craig Lioness Club.
The club would like to say thanks to all
those who supported them in this event,
helping keep up their support of the Lady
Diana Nursery.

Everyone's doing well
By Milieus Lobb
MAITLAND AND 16th - It is a great
shock, I know to get any news about this
area, but yes everyone is still here and going
strong. It is the reporter who is a wee bit
slow getting the community news together.
Time is just a little short. Sorry I don't have
time to do all the phoning that see to be
necessary for this job.
The folks here still break legs, get sick,
take trips, and speaking of trips, Bill d I
have just returned from a trip to Calgary to
a wedding and then we went to Edmonton to
Brian and Lana's where we got acquainted
with our grandson who is almost four years
old. He didn't know who these easterners
were since he was only four months old the
last time Bill saw him.
The weather was great - no snow. We
checked on the Craig Taylors and Rick
Blakes. They sent hellos to everyone.
The community is growing. Rick and
Carol Forbes will soon set up their new
home on the 16th and bring four little ones to
keep things interesting. Congratulations on
the birth of John Cameron Douglas.
Community CWL Club News
The Community Club is still meeting, not
every month but a few times a year. Seems
too many of us are working somewhere and
it is a little bit of a problem to find a time
that suits enough to carry on.
They met in October at the home of
Phyllis Thompson. Jeannette Martin was in
charge of the meeting. Milena Lobb read the
minutes and Helen Lobb gave the
treasurer's report. Where you would like to
travel if money was no object as roll call
took us around the world, when the 11
members and one visitor revealed their
dreams.
The December meeting will be held at the
home of Alison Lobb on December 2 at 7:30
p.m. The outside of the horseshoe will be in
charge of the program and inside looks after
lunch. There will be the usual gift exchange
of a $3 item. Roll call is an item for the
Children's Aid.
After the meeting closed with the Benedic-
tion, members watched slides of a trip to
Europe taken last spring by Anna Stirling,
Elsie Reder and Hazel McCreath. Over
lunch the souvenirs each member brought
were passed around and stories told about
each.
