The scholarship has a value of $1,200. Bonnie Turner, of Seaforth, recently began studies at St. Jerome's in September and is registered in a general arts program. Bonnie is one of over 60 students from across Ontario who have been awarded over $75,000 in entrance scholarships to St. Jerome's College which is federated with the University of Waterloo. "Bonnie has an enviable academic record in high school," says College Registrar Kevin Donelson. "She shows exceptional promise for university studies and 'we are pleased she has chosen St. Jerome's." Other CHSS grads who were academic winners were Wesley Delve - the Leigh Clarke Book Prizes in French, the Cornelia Maria van der Wel Book Prizes and the N. David Keypour Prize; Darryl Fox, the Huron History Alumni Prize. St. Jerome's was founded in 1864 in the Town of St. Agatha, west of Waterloo, In 1959, it was given degree granting powers by the Ontario Legislature and thus changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's Col- lege. In 1960, it entered into federation with the University of Waterloo. Today, the col- lege registers students in liberal arts and mathematics programs and degrees are conferred by the University of Waterloo, upon recommendation of the college. New Bell telephone directory is out CLINTON - A color photograph of the Lit- tle Madawaska River in the heart of Algon- quin Park, as it looks in early spring, is on the cover of the 1987 telephone directory for London, St. Thomas and surrounding area. Some 270,000 copies of the directory will be delivered from November 10 to November 27, said Howie Atkinson, local Bell Canada Manager. The introductory section has been revised to reflect: * A change in the procedure for handling an- noying or offensive phone calls. The main change is that the tracing of a telephone number from which the calls are being plac- ed, now must be initiated by the police rather than Bell. * Long distance rate reductions that went in- to effect July 1, 1987, and the revised dis- count periods that became effective earlier in the year. 20e ‘azie e iivzd ' eed vo-ce 0.eed *White Millet *Wild Bird Seed Mix *Sunflower Seeds *Cut Corn *Niger Seed HUMMEL'S FEED MILL 35 Mary St., Clinton 482-9792 DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED BY ANSTETT MANUFACTURING LTD.
