Keeping in touch at CPS
CLINTON - The Clinton Public School
(CPS) newspaper staff includes: Julie
Hohner, Naomi Duddy, Kyra Aylsworth,
Stacey Reid, Lori Kumm, and Heather Ar-
thur. This week's news was written by Julie
Hohner and Naomi Duddy. The staff will be
taking turns writing each week. Thanks
goes to Miss Radley for her help.
This year the school has a new look added
to their front door. It has green carpet, ben-
ches and plants. So when you enter CPS you
feel like you're strolling in the park!
This year's open house was thought to
have had the most parents and visitors ever.
Many teachers commented on that.
Also this year there are many high school
students helping out. There are Peer Tutors
who are Grade eleven family Studies
students. There are 29 all together and they
come once a week. They are paired up with
students from Grades 1 to 6 all year long,
and the Peer Tutor usually helps the student
with reading.
Mr. Nicholson, the speech teacher teaches
the Grade elevens how to teach children to
sound and pronounce words properly.
The other students that are helping out at
the school are Co -Op students. There are
five students who are in a type of job train-
ing program. The students are Tara Cluff
and John Lavis who are helping in gym
classes at different times along with the
regular teacher, Mr. Laurie. John will also
be helping with refereeing games and pro-
bably help coach school teams.
There is also Janet Ducharme and Carrie
Rogers who help with various classrooms
and with different activities.
Also there is Pam Wood helping Mrs. An-
drews in the library. Pam works on the com-
puter to automate the library.
These students came in twice a week.
In September, Story Hour started and will
be continuing all year every other week. It
includes coloring, reading, films and
filmstrips. The next Story Hour is
November 20.
The Buddy system began In September.
This is when Grades 7 and 8s are paired up
with Grades 1 and 2s and they do a lot of dif-
ferent activities.

mom, Mrs. Bell, Jonathan's mom, Mrs Rit-
cher, Mrs. Fitton, Trisha's mom and Craig's
mom, Mrs. Gass. Thanks also to Grade 8
helper Kim Lee.
While the primary grades were
celebrating Halloween the Grade 7 and 8
students were attending a Shakespeare play
at the Stratford Festival Theatre. The play -
they saw was Much Ado About Nothing.
November News
CPS held their own service then attended
the service at the cenotaph for Remem-
brance Day. Scott Jewitt and Stacey Reid

Grade 8s have been doing a lot of fund
raising to raise money for their trip to Ot-
tawa. This includes, selling suncatchers and
Christmas gifts out of a catalogue. They will
soon be selling cheese and special cheese
packages with jam for Christmas.
Also to raise money they sell ice cream
