Morgan baptism at
St. Paul's Anglican Church
By Elizabeth A. Kettlewell
CLINTON - St. Paul's Anglican Church
service on November 15 was a particularly
happy service as it included the baptism of
Joshua Grant Morgan, born on September
30, 1987 in Owen Sound. Joshua is Grant and
Becky Morgan's first child, and seventh
grandson for Douglas and Ellen Morgan of
Clinton.
Sidesmen and greeters at the morning
service were Noel Flagg, and Bill Counter.
The Old Testament Lesson was read by
Douglas Morgan, and Jason Wilson who is
also St. Paul's assistant bell-ringer, read the
second lesson.
Following his sermon, the Reverend
Gregory Gilson continued the service as
celebrant of Holy Baptism, with responses
by the entire congregation to the Baptismal
Covenant. Joshua's parents, Becky and
Grant, and godparents Janice and Jeff
Peters of Blyth gathered at the font with Mr.
Gilson and the newly baptized infant. A
lighted candle for Joshua was presented to
his parents, symbolizing the "light of Christ,
to show that you have passed from darkness
to light".
More than 60 friends and relatives of the
family met in the parish hall to enjoy a
delightful buffet luncheon, and a slice of a
special cake prepared for the baptismal
celebration.
Among the many out-of-town guests were
Michael and Donna Bryans of Owen Sound,
Mrs. Elizabeth Wright (Joshua's paternal
great-grandmother), James Smith, the
maternal great-grandfather, Mr. and Mrs.
James Hastings, maternal grandparents
from Ilderton, and many young cousins, and
proud aunts and uncles.
In his weekly announcements to the con-
gregation Mr. Gilson reminded the men that
the next B.A.C. breakfast and communion
service will take place on Sunday,
November 22 at 8 a.m. Guests are always
welcome.
It was also announced that an interesting
Christmas Newsletter is being prepared.
Parishioners having newsworthy items to
include in this Christmas letter are asked to
get in touch with Mrs. June Boussey,
Elizabeth Kettlewell, or Greg Gilson.
Stories pertaining to memories of
Christmas' past at St. Paul's will be of par-
ticular interest.
Dates and times of special Christmas ser-
vices will appear shortly in the Clinton
