The hours are October 28, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; October 29, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; October 30, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; November 2, 3 and 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This Wednesday, October 28, Grade 3 to 8 students will participate in a cross-country run. On October 30, the primary classes, Grades kindergarten to 4, will hold their Halloween party from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Grades 5 to 8 will hold a dance from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., as their Halloween party. The residents of Huronview who are in- volved in the HUG program will join their partners for a Halloween party in the gym at 1;30 p.m. Lions and Lioness News The Lions and Lioness clubs held their Meet Your Neighbor night on October 25. About 10 people braved the snow and cold to join the Lions and Lioness for coffee and donuts. The Lioness had set up a table with the scrapbook and photo album, for people to glance through. On October 25, four Lions club members attended the International Breakfast in St. Marys. Also on October 25, the Lioness Club at- tended two functions. Three Lioness members travelled to the Dorchester Lioness Pumpkin Brunch. While there they listened to a speaker who writes for the Lon- don Free Press and watched a magician perform his tricks. Two Lioness members travelled to Exeter on Sunday to the fall rally sponsored by Ex- eter Lioness. Lioness Clubs from all of District A-15 were present as well as several clubs from A-1 and A-9. The clubs were entertained by the Huronia Choir, and guest speaker, Angela Armit. Personals After graduating their course at CFB Camp Borden, Privates Michael Snelgrove and Paul Rice were posted to CFB . Cold Lake Alberta. (David Emslie photo) CDCS is off to a busy start CLINTON - The first two months of school at Clinton and District Christian School have passed already. All of the classes Iiave been busy with a variety of activities. In September, Grades 2 and :3 attended some educational programs at the Wawanosh Nature Centre. It was a fine, warm day and the programs were very worthwhile. In early October, Grade 4 spent several hours at the CHSS pond, observing pond structure and capturing animal specimens. Back in the classroom, an aquarium was set up to provide a new home for the snajls, tad- poles, and water insects. Thanks go to Mrs. Buffinga and Mrs. Pardys for accompany- ing the class in spite of muddy conditions. Both boys and girls teams participated in the local elementary senior soccer tourna- ment held at Huron Centennial School on Oc- tober 6. The boys won four of their five games; the girls won one out of four games. Congratulations to all teams that played their best. ()n October 9, the school held their annual Thanksgiving assembly. The program was presented by various classes performing with poetry, readings and song. All students brought food gifts which were packed into 13 boxes for distribution to local needy families. Interim reports were handed out on Oc- tober 16. This first report on the work of the students is a good way to determine pro- gress being made quite early in the year. Follow-up parent interviews are scheduled for October 28. Last Monday, October 19, Haitian mis- sionaries, Mr. and Mrs. Vanderzaag, gave a slide presentation of their work. Later in the week, Grades 7 and 8 were given a talk and chance for frank discussion on the issue of abortion. The teaching staff travelled to Hamilton on October 22 and 23 to attend the Ontario Christian School Teachers Association con- vention, giving all students here a holiday from school. The convention is two busy days of addresses, workshops, book displays, and fellowship with colleagues. Halloween parties planned CLINTON - On October 30 in St. Joseph's School students are holding a Halloween party. In the morning Kindergarten to Grade 4 will w having costume Judging, an obstacle course, bobbing for apples. games and an optional Haunted )louse for all grades. In the afternoon. ('Trades 5-8 will he having one video and costume judging. Everyone can enter the coloring contest with a story to go with it. Every classroom will carve a pumpkin. The pumpkins will he displayed and judged. There will be a draw for a cake. The stu- dent's council would like to thank Anne Ball 1/4 - \\\. Each teacher made two 10 minute presentations about new directions in curriculum in their classroom. Parents were able to attend two different presentations. During these presentations parents asked questions about programs at the different grade levels. The rest of the evening the parents toured the school and visited with the teachers and other parents.
