Area obituaries
Hazel Elizabeth Matheson
Hazel Elizabeth Matheson, of Maplewood
Manor, Seaforth and formerly of Clinton,
died in the Clinton Public Hospital on Oc-
tober 22. She was 75 years old.
Mrs. Matheson was born in Tuckersmith
Township on November 10, 1911 to the late
Frederick Robert and Mary )~Alen 1 Layton )
Pepper. On November 12, 1932, she married
Austin Matheson at the Pepper farm in
Tuckersmith Township.
Mrs. Matheson was a member of Ontario
Street United Church, the church's UCW, a
member of the Tuckersmith Ladies' Club
and a member of the Friday Afternoon
Bridge Club.
She is survived by her husband and two
daughters, Mrs. Curtiss ( Faye) MacDonald
of Kitchener and Mrs. Joe ( Glenda I
Gaborieau of Winnipeg as well as three
granddaughters, Janette MacDonald and
Shawna and Jacquie Gaborieau.
Mrs. Matheson is also survived by one.
brother, Walter Pepper and his wife May of
Clinton as well as a dear friend and cousin,
Pearl McKnight of Hensall.

The fashions were stylish and colorful and
just in time for autumn wear.
The ladies from Huron Heights went to
Stratford on a shopping spree. From all
reports, they had a good day out.
Some of the folk here went in to Clinton to
try their luck at bowling.
Tuesday the members of HUG met for
their weekly session of games. Members of
the Bluewater Club for the blind met in the
Wesley -Willis United Church for a banquet.
The October birthday party took place in
the auditorium Wednesday afternoon with
the Senior Citizen Club from Zurich in
charge of the program. The musicians in-
cluded Marilyn Desjarden playing accor-

GEORGE HOWATT
George Everett John Howatt of Seaforth,
died Sunday, October 25, 1987 at St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. He was 81.
Mr. Howatt is survived by his wife the
former Roberta Sanderson; daughter Irene
( Mrs. Arnold Storey) of Milverton and
sons, Lloyd of Clinton, Carman of Clinton
and Murray of Blyth.
Also surviving are one brother Edgar of
Westfield, six grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
He was predeceased by two sons, Robert
and Ross and two sisters, Agnes Sanderson
and Sarah Storey.
The family will receive friends at the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87 Goderich
Street West Seaforth until 2 p.m. today,
when a funeral service will be held. Inter-
ment Blyth Cmemetery,.Blyth.
As expressions of sympathy donations
can be made to the Northside United
Church.

They played many of the old and new
favorites. The singers included Harriet
Vanderburgt and Diane Miller, They also
sang a medley of popular numbers. At the
close of the program, refreshments were
served.
There was a craft workshop in Zurich on
Thursday and Mary Gibbings, Evelyn
Acher and Jane Ladd attended.
Men from Spruce Meadow went on a shop-
ping trip to London. It was a beautiful day
for their outing.
Rev. John Pluta held Roman Catholic
Mass in the chapel Friday morning.
'1'o wind up the activities for the week,
residents played bingo in the afternoon.
Chisholm-Narejko
On September 26, Anne Narejko, daughter
of John and Frances Narejko of Brantford,
and Colin Chisholm, son of Leonard and
Olive Chisholm of Dungannon, were mar-
ried by Father John Pluta in St. Joseph's
Church, Clinton. Matron of honor was
Audrey Gommier of Brantford and
bridesmaids were Shelley McPhee Haist of
Clinton, Lydia Zak of Oakville, sister-in-law
of the bride, and Virginia Caesar of Dungan-
non, sister of the groom. Bestman was
Eugene Johnston of Port Albert and ushers
were Alex Chisholm of Dungannon, brother
of the groom, Wayne Park of Dungannon
and Ed Narejko of Brantford, brother of the
bride. Ringbearer was Tyler Narejko,
nephew of the bride. Following a dinner and
reception at Goderich Township Community
Centre, the couple took a trip through nor-
thern Ontario and Quebec. They are

Trio entertains CCB club
CLINTON - The Bluewater C.C.B. Club
held their Thanksgiving Dinner in the
Wesley -Willis United Church Hall on Oc-
tober 16.
Bert Sootheran said grace. Following the
dinner Nora Schroeter thanked the ladies of
the United Church for the turkey dinner.
Entertainment was provided by Reta
Flynn and the Huron Strings, with their Old

Time Music.
Then three young ladies gave a program
of tap dancing. They were Erica Burns,
Krista Black and Andrea Postma. This was
followed by a story of how Thanksgiving
originated, read by Mrs. H. Norman from
Goderich. All the entertainment was much
appreciated by those present.

Frank McClinchey, were married on August
22 in the First United Church, Lethbridge,
Alberta.

Colleen DeJong, daughter of Bill and
Doreen DeJong of RR 1 Brucefield and
Jamie Faulds; son of Bob and Beryl Faulds
of RR 5, Clinton were married on October 2
at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clinton.
Maid of honor was Karen DeJong, sister of
the bride and bridesmaids were Lisa
Foreman of Hollywood, Florida, Susan Mid-
degaal of Seaforth, Angie Radford of Clin-
ton. The flower girl was Denise DeJong of
Brucefield. Best man was Steve Faulds,
brother of the groom and ushers were
Charlie Greenhill of Hensall, Andy Van
Dorp of Clinton, Jerry DeJong of Brucefield
and the ringbearer was Kevin Barry of
Seaforth. The double ring ceremony was of-
ficiated by Father John Pluta. The couple
are residing at RR 3 Clinton.
Snell - Chilton
011 September 19, St. Andrew's United
Church, Bayfield, was the setting for e
wedding of Serena Maxine Chilto and
Robert Mark Snell. Rev. John Ho stra of-
ficiated. Serena is the daughter of oyce and
Don Chilton and Bob is the son c f Carolyn
and Bob Snell, all of Bayfield. Matron of
honor was Deb Johnston and attending the
groom was Lorne Taylor. Bridesmaids were
Dale Evans, Lisa Telford, Chanda Chilton
and Kim Snell. The flowergirl was Toni
Gale. Ushers were Rob Boyes, Wes Goz-
'Lard, Dave Johnston and Dan Evans. Piano
and organ music was provided by Jim and
Marion Rose, Seaforth. A reception followed
at Stanley Township Community Complex.

On August 29, Judy Johnston, daughter of
Murray and Dorothy Johnston of Clinton
and Robert Nesbit, son of Margaret Nesbit
of Blyth, were married in Blyth Trinity
Anglican Church. Rev. Patt Nunn officiated.
The matron of honor was Judy Ure of
Tecumseh, and the bridesmaid was Lori Hill
of Woodstock. Greg Riley of Port Lambton
was the best man, and the ushers were Mark
Johnston of London, brother of the bride.

groom. After the ceremony, the guests at-
tended a dinner at the Little Inn in Bayfield.
The couple honeymooned in Gatlinburg.
Tennessee and are residing in Windsor.
