School -on -Wheels at Sloman Park. Six members and two guests (one from Philadelphia) heard from Margaret Sloman about her family life aboard the school car and viewed slides covering highlights of her father's teaching career in Northern Ontario. Mr. Sloman taught from this school car from 1926 to 1965 taking education to isolated students from Capreole to five points farther north. . After this presentation, the group was in- vited to the Sloman home to meet and visit with Cela Sloman, who travelled with her husband and family aboard the car. She is a recipient for the Order of Canada and was Clinton's First Lady of the Year last year. Everyone enjoyed tea and tarts with the Slomans before moving on to Lois Fit- zgerald's home. President Linda Meade read a letter from Xi Epsilon Beta including a most generous cheque to help Delta Alpha establish itself. Vice -President Marj Dobson reported that Founder's Day will be held in Exeter on April 26. Plans were discussed for going to the Christmas musical presentation and dance of the Harmony Kings in December. Further discussion followed regarding the Halloween social. Ways and Means Chairperson, Audrey Kemp, reported a profit on the chapter's Regal order. Zehrs' and Knechtel's tapes were also collected. Audrey reported that the travelling basket had moved to Ann's house and Audrey received the sorority friendship cup from our sisters in Xi Epsilon Beta. Marj thanked her sisters for the yellow roses received when she became a second - time grandmother last month. Service Chairperson Lois Fitzgerald asked for volunteers to help serve lunch at the Cana- dian Council for the Blind meeting on November 3. Marj Marsh will represent the Preceptor Chapter at the cenotaph on Remembrance Day to assist the other two chapters in lay- ing the wreath from the sorority. The next meeting will be held at the home of Audrey Kemp on November 9. The evening closed with a lunch and social time. Sorority tours Bluewater Centre CLINTON - The Xi Epsilon Beta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Gail Sinclair in Clinton on September 29 and then set out in cars for a tour of the Blue Water Centre in Goderich Township. The group was greeted by volunteer 'co- ordinator and past sorority member Marilyn McMahon. Four residents concented to show small groups of members throughout the facility. A discussion with the young men and a pic- ture presentation with coffee gave the members a better insight into institutional life. A very educational experience. The October 13 business meeting was held at the home of Rita VanDyke. Members took a walk down to the school car where Margaret Sloman gave them a tour and a slide presentation on the school car and a question and answer period followed. They then walked back to Rita's house where president Dianne Stevenson brought the meeting to order. The attendance question was one thing you remembered about early .school days which brought back some forgotten memories. The meeting was followed by refreshments. The next meeting is October 27, which will be a workshop at Barb's Country Crafts in Exeter. 4 -Hers plan party By Christine Kemp CLINTON - On October 26 in the Walker's home, the Garden Girls had a completion meeting to go through the book and fill in any missed answers.
