(David Emslie photo) Information network links Huron County Library Many public libraries are now connected electronically throughout Ontario by the On- tario Public Library Information Network (OPLIN). More than 10 -million titles are readily available to you through this elec- tronic interlibrary loan system. Implementation of the new $3.3 -million electronic network began as a pilot project in 1984. Since then, more than 100 public libraries have been linked electronically. "OPLIN improves the efficiency of in- terlibrary loans and provides the public with a larger book selection," says Marian Doucette, Huron>County Library's Informa- tion Services Co-ordinator. A survey among public libraries where OPLIN had been introduced found use of in- terlibrary loans increased, communications between public libraries improved and faster delivery of interlibrary loan requests.
