part in a regular season tournament in
Palmerston 00 October 15.

Norwell squad, the Senior Redmen dropped
the first game by a 15-9 score. The Redmen
battled back in the second game to win by a
score of 15-6.
In their second match against the
Goderich Vikings the Redmen won both
games by scores of 15-6 and 15-11. The
Recliner) now hold a 9-1) record against the
Vikings this year!
In their final match against a strong
Madill team, the Senior Redmen won the
first game by a 15-12 score but dropped the
final game by a 15-11 score.
The Senior Redmen had difficulty ad-
justing to the very low ceiling at Norwell but
their play improved as the day progressed.
Improved play by recently added setter
John Lavis was a definite asset.
The Senior Redmen now have 13 points on
the season and are in a solid position to
qualify for the playoffs. The next Redmen
tournarnant is October 21, at Central Huron.

Sports
Well, this should be the last'week for the
sports section as you know it.
As mentioned a few weeks back (as Bob
Dylan would say), the times, they are a
changin'.
If all goes right, when you open your
paper to the second section next week, you
will see the all new recreation pages. (Not
the whole section, but a few pages).
I'm about ready to give it a shot. I've
taken the photos for my very first feature,
and all that remains are a few interviews
to get my facts right on the feature sub-
ject. It will be my first sports feature, and
I hope you'll enjoy it.
With that feature out crf the way I'll have
only two things to worry about before next
Monday. First there will be my column,
which always proves difficult to write.
But my second worry, which is far more
important than my column, is getting
enough copy for these new recreation
pages.
I know, I know, I'm always harping
about getting more copy, but I have a
reason for this. It seems no matter what I
do, the flow of copy coming in never
increases.
Sure, my regular contributors such as
the bowlers, high school teams, and the
Mustangs keep contributing, but that's
about where it stops.
Is it my breath? Should I change my col-
ogne? Why not give me a call with your
DRVID EMSLIE
news?
There must be some proud parents,
players or coaches out there who would
like to see their team's achievements in
print.
Just give me a chance to improve and
expand your recreational coverage, and
I'll do my best.
Like I've said before, if no one involved
with the team wants to write up a story, so-
meone can just call in and give me the
facts. If, however, no one wants to be
bothered calling in with the facts, how
about giving me a number 1 can call to ask
for the facts.
That's how 1 work it with the Clinton
Junior "D" Mustangs. Just a five minute
call to the team's manager, and I'm able to
keep people up to date on their latest
statistics.
So, there you have it. Just give me a
story, a call or a number, and I'll take care
of the rest.
You probably. know how to reach me by
now. but here it is again. nava Fm' lin 'it
482-9502. And once again, if you're dropp-
ing something off, and the office is closed,
just stick it through our mail slot.
One final reminder. Since the second
section ( with the recreation pages I will be
put together on Monday afternoons, we
have to have any written copy in by noon
on Monday.
Thanks for hearing me out on this new
section this one final time. I'rn just trying
to make it work. This should be my final
request for help anyways, because by this
,time next week, it will be too late.
Volleyball
I seem to be just full of reminders this
week, but here goes another one.
Don't forget, everyone is welcome to at-
tend the first session of Monday Night
Volleyball at St. Joseph's Separate School
next Monday night I Oct. 26 i.
If I'm not too depressed about the results
of my first attempt at putting together the
recreation pages, I should be out to join the
fun.
Redmen edge Stratford
On October 15 the (ventral Huron Redmen
junior football team travelled to Stratford to
play against the Northwestern Huskies.
In the first half the defense was having
trouble containing the strong Huskie of-
fense. The Stratford team scored first, but
the Redmen were quick to respond.
The offensive team blocked hard to allow
Steve Vandendool to run in for the
touchdown. Keith Ducharme was successful
in kicking the point after.
The Huskies, however, persisted and
scored again late in the half putting the
Redmen down 14-7 coming into the second
half.
The Redmen defense was more effective
in the second half. The Stratford team was
completely shut down and they weren't able
to put another point on the board.
This inspired the Redmen offense, under
the quarterbacking of Daryl Hemingway,
and Steve Vandendool ran in for his second
touchdown of the game. Ducharme brought
the score to 14 all with the conversion kick.
With time running out, the Redmen had
possession and Steve Vandendool punted the
Huskies
ball into the Huskie end zone, and with the
speed of the punting team the Stratford
player was taken down for the safety point.
That put the Redinen into a 15-14 lead that
held out until the game's end.
Stratford put on the pressure in the dying
seconds, but they couldn't score.
With this win the Redmen's football
record for the 1987 season stands at two wins
and two losses.
The last game of the regular season will
be against Norwell at home ori October 22 at
2:00 p.m. Coyne out and cheer them on.
Mustangs drop to two and five record
The Clinton .Junior 'I)" Mustangs' win -
loss record continued to slide this past week.
It now stands at two wins and five losses.
They started off last week's play with a
two and two record, but dropped to two and
three on October 14 when they lost 8-2 in
l,ucan. Bobby Ladd and Steve Vandendool
.scored for the local squad.
• Their luck didn't improve at all when they
played host to Exeter on October 16. They

were blown out of that game by an 11-1
score. Mike Ladd got the single Clinton goal.
They were trampled at home again two
days later, on October )8. when John
Scruton scored the lone Clinton goal in a 10-1
loss to Mount Brydges.
This week they play host to Seaforth on
October 23 at 8:30 p.rn., and they are off to
Wellesley the following day.
Although they appear to be sliding after
beginning the season with two wins, there is
still some optimism for the team. Manager
Bryan Marriage explained they are getting
some extra players, and he said their record
will be "four and five after this weekend.''
