Interfaith cirriculum
to be looked at
'1'he Education Conunittee of the Huron
County Board of Education has agreed to
give further study to a request from the
Anglican Church of Canada for an interfaith
curriculum to be developed for Ontario
schools.
The Anglican Church wants a pilot project
to be approved where professionally trained
teachers at various levels of the public
school system would teach a course about
all the world's religions. They say it is a
"logical step" now that increased funding
for separate schools has been approved by
the Supreme Court of Canada.
"We believe that such a program would
help all students toward an increased
understanding and respect for all faiths, and
prevent further fragmentation of public
education," the letter from the Anglican
Church states.
