The top cribbage players in the region come from the Clinton Legion. Members of the
Legion ladies Auxiliary recently brought top prizes home from tournament play. The

CLINTON — The Ladies Auxiliary to the
Royal Canadian Legion honored the closing
of the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of the
Legion by having a pot luck dinner followed
by a lively penny sale by Annie Sallows and
Vera Colquhoun. The door prize was won by
Olive Broadfoot. Karen Tait, president, led
in a short business meeting and made dona-
tions as requested.
The Auxiliary members have been busy
preparing banquets for various functions
that have been held at the Legion Hall.
Annie Sallows, Sports officer, was very
happy on Saturday when her two teams for
cribbage travelled to Brussels. They were
Annie Sallows, Doris Chambers, Margaret
Switzer and Minlue Rumball as team one.
Team two included Marion Smith, Betty
MacDonald, Rosemary Armstrong and
Blanche Deeves. Team one brought home
the ebampionship trophy and Team 2 came
in second. Partners Marion Smith and Blan-
che Deeves won the doubles winning eight
games out of nine. All stopped on the way
home and enjoyed a dinner and returned to
the Legion to be greeted by President Karen
Tart and her husband Gordon.
On October 24 the District Euchre tourna-
ment will be held in Palmerston. The winn-
ing team to go is Betty MacDonald, Bessie
Black, Hilda Semple and Blanche Deeves.
Zone Darts will be held at Branch 140 on
October 17, 1987.
April and Susan play to full house
April and Susan delighted a full house of
children and their parents on October 3 at
the Clinton Town Hall.
The music was very pleasing to the ear
and with' the actions, puppets, energy and
dynamic personalities of the performers,
the audience was fascinated.
Some highlights of the hour long perfor-
mance were "Space Worms", complete
with costumes and glowing "worn puppets",
•'Hay'ride". with actions and audience in-
volvement and a musical play called
" Crumplewetskin". "Hayride", an original
song written by April, will apparently be
performed on "Sesame Street' by April and
Susan 5000.
April Kassirer is a professional guitarist,
banjo player and singer/songwriter and her
music has been performed by herself and
others on television.
Susan Marcus is KnoWU t0 families across
Canada through her roles 00 Mr. Dressup on
(.'B(' television. She is also a professional
writer of children's books, radio, TV and
films.
