Redmen dominate in home opener
l'he Central Huron Redmen junior foot-
ball team defeated the Listowel Lords in
very impressive style in their home opener
on October 1. The Redmen shut out the
Lords by a score of 30-0.
The juniors started out slowly in the first
half. They came close to touchdowns
several times, but they just couldn't score.
The solo first half point was scored when
Steve Vandendool kicked into the Listowel
end zone and the Listowel player was taken
down with an excellent effort by the whole
punting team.
Things really started to happen in the se-
cond half though. With the defensive co-
ordination of Jason Papple and Dave Jones
the Lords were virtually shut down. Ex-
cellent efforts by the whole defensive team
forced five turnovers including a blocked
punt.
With Daryl Hemingway in at quarterback
calling the plays, things started to happen.
The offensive team started to open holes and
Steve Vandendool started to get some runn-
ing room. Steve ran in for four touchdowns.
Keith Ducharme very successfully kicked
all four conversions. The other two points
were scored with one point end zone kicks.
The juniors were a different team in the
second half and the score shows it.
