(Shelley McPhee Haist photo) By Blanche Deeves MIDDLE'TON - Communion was celebrated in St. James' Anglican Church on Sunday, October 4 with Rev. Aubrey -Bell of- iciating. Ralph Welsh received the offering. The A.C.W. of St. James' Church wish to hank everyone for visiting their booth at the Craft Show in Holmesville, and thanks to the men for their help and support. Special thank you goes out to Joe Atkinson for the use of the freezer and to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Beck for the use of their freezer, and to all the ladies for their work in making pies, cakes, chocolates and all goodies that were sold. There are 200 frozen chicken pies yet to be sold and 12 Christmas cakes. Anyone wishing to purchase these may call Blanche at 482-9536. The person who left their Deli Booth pur- chases at the hall may call Blanche at 482-9536. About three or four weeks ago some 85 questionnaires were handed out in church. They asked people to list their talents and volunteer them to help. To date only seven surveys have been returned. Confirmation classes have resumed and the next meeting will be at the Rectory this corning Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. Joint Board Meeting is called for1,ctober 22 at 8 p.rn. This should be a short one and is specifically to deal with a plan for hosting the area Bishop Bob Townshend for a whole day. He has suggested November 29, but 'would like to know the plans well before that in case any changes need to be made. Naturally, any other business arising will happily be dealt with. The congregation welcomes Rick and Carolyn Schilbe who came to worship with us at St. James . The A.C.W. of St. James will meet at the church on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Congratulations to Lisa Storey in winning first prize in her first time to show an Ara- bian horse, held in Exeter. She also received fourth prize in the best gelding and fifth prize in Arabian showmanship. She also received the Seaforth 4-H Senior showman- ship prize. Five babies are baptised at United Churh BY BLANCHE DEET 'ES HOLMESVILLE -- The Senior's Cboir led in the ministry of music at the United Church service on October 4. Baptism was celebrated with five babies being presented by their parents. They included Kalylie Elizabeth, daughter of Brenda and Jim Ginn; Maranda Nicole, daughter of Karen and John Greidanus; Michelle Catherine, daughter of Helen and Ernie Lobb: Laura Natsuko, daughter of Brian and Linda Nakamura; Michael Benjamin, son of Karen and .Gordon Yeo. Assisting Rev. Bechtel at the service was Elder Alice I'arker. The UCW of Holmesville United Church will meet on October 13. Ladies bring in y our pennies. Communion in Holmesville United Church will be celebrated on October 11. On October 18 the Anniversary Service will be held in Holmesville United Church at 11 a.m. Please note the change in Bazaar time for the Holmesville United Church to October 31, with starting time at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come and enjoy the good home baking, vegetables and tea tables. The Senior Quilters went for a day outing. A super time was had. The Enterprising Seniors met in the Goderich Township Community ('entre with Edward Dunes in charge. Alice Porter gave the roll call and read the minute's of the last meeting. Marion Powell gave the card re ort. Discussion was held on the u•conl- ing Fall rally to be held October 14 in Holmesville, sponsored by Enterprising Seniors. Registration to be at 12 noon and the meeting will be held at 1 p.m. The new regular meeting will be October 15. Cards were enjoyed and lunch and social time was held. Garbage in the gut HOLMESVILLE - September 28, at the (;oder•ich Township Hall, the Holmesville 1 4-11 club and their parents along with the S.S. No. 4 Community Club enjoyed a delicious meal. Each member of the 4-11 club was responsible for bringing a tiled! item. Later on Barb (.use talked about what her lob was about, nutrients and what fruits and vegetables are most common. We then watched a film called "Garbage in the Gut", which reminded every member to try and use better eating habit Next week 4 11 nu•anl,rrs are looking; for- ward to learning how tti dress up vegetables fur everyday treats.
