KEEN TO BE FIT
Hensall ladies are keen to be fit. Twenty
four ladies turned out last week to register
for Body Fit. classes. The first session was
held last night (Tuesday) but if you're still
interested call Cindy at 262-3102.
FAIR COMMITTEES MEET
The ladies and school fair committees will
meet on Wednesday, October 7 at the home
of Mary Kinsman, 82 King St. Summer is
over and it's time to start preparation for
Hensall Spring Fair 1988. Anyone who is in-
terested in helping on these committees is
eagerly invited and bring your ideas.
SKATE-A-THON -
'i'he date for the Minor Hockey Skate-a-
thon has been changed to Sunday, October
18 from 1-5 p.m.
('HII.D WEEK
The Village of Hensall will once again be
recognizing the third week of October as
The Week of the Child.
Many exciting activities are planned for
this year, including a parade,. a puppet
show, and open doors at all youth programs.
.1 calendar of the week's events' will be
available soon. Children can win prizes for
attendance at local events and all activities
are free.
UNITED CHURCH NEWS
A good crowd was in attendance on Sun-
day at Hensall United Church. Following the
opening of the service by Rev. Douglas
Wright the large Junior Choir burst into
song with their rendition of "I am a pro-
mise". The group of approximately 30
young people is ably led by Mrs. Debbie
Wood.
Worshippers were greeted at the door by
Cecil Pepper and were ushered by Jack
Drysdale, Ross Veal, Jim McGregor and
Gary Kyle.
Sunday evening Reverend Douglas
Wright was inducted into Hensall United
Church. A large number of Doug and
Laura's families were present as well as
many local parishioners. A lovely reception
followed the service.
40TH ANNIVERSARY
A beautifully planned celebration was
held on Saturday evening, September 26 at
Hensall Community Centre on the occasion
of Alphonse .and Betty Grenier's 40th
anniversary.
The couple's four daughters and sons-in-
law and eight grandchildren outdid
themselves in an effort to snake the day
perfect. Congratulations Betty and
Alphonse.
Craft Show set to go

HOI.MESVI1A E - Worship Service was
held at the United Church here on Sunday
morning with Rev. James Bechtel of-
ficiating. Wayne Tebbutt and Douglas Nor-
man received the offering.
The Enterprising Seniors will meet in the
Community. (:entre in Holmesville on Oc-
tober 1 at 8 p.m.
Cone and visit the 2nd Annual Craft Show
in the Community Centre in Holmesville
from Oct. 2 - 4. There will be something for
everyone.
Calling all the Seniors - Holmesville
U.C.W. members, all pennies must be in by
the October meeting and be given to Olive
Bell. The Senior U.C.W. members are corn-
peting with the Junior U.C.W. to determine
the most pennies won.
Hearing impaired topic
CLINTON - The Zeta Omega Chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi met at the home of Susan
Hay on September 22. Roger Miller,
Superintendant of the Robart's School for
the Hearing Impaired inLondon spoke
about a number of interesting issues
relating to hearing loss. His presentation
made all who were present more aware of
the anatomy of the ear, the dangers of otitis
media, the problems besetting the hearing
impaired and the challenges dealt with by
the Robart's School.
The business portion of the meeting in-
cluded discussion about the Rush party in
October, socials, and plans for fundraising.
Birthday cake and ice cream were served to
celebrate Dagmar Crawford's birthday and
the evening was adjourned. The next
meeting is at Caron Snihur's home on Oc-
tober 13.

The second meeting of Kippen - 3-4H club
‘k as held at • Brucefield United Church on
September 22. Kate Papple, president of this
club, opened with the 4-11 pledge and roll
call. Members then proceeded into the kit-
chen and divided into four groups, each hav-
ing a special task.
While the colossal vegetable burger and
the marinated vegetable flowers sat in the
refrigerator to marinate, meeting two in the
books was discussed. During this time
members hada taste test of real fruit juice,
reconstltutxd fruit juice, fruit drink, fruit
flavored crystals, and a fruit soft drink.
They concluded the meeting by sampling
the food prepared earlier. Everything was

NITER CHURCH NEWS
Barbara cooper played the organ on Sun-
day, September 27 at St. Andrews United
Church
'I'hc' Ministry of Music was presented by
the choir sinainr; • The h'arnily of God".
Rev. Lorne Keays sermon was called
"understanding". On Sunday, October 4,
Holy Conununion will be observed.
Choir practices have started, new
members are needed. Kippen U('W
members are invited to Carmel
Presbyterian Church, Hensall on Monday,
October 5 at 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be
Bob McFarlane.
Kippen Anniversary Service will be held
on Sunday, October 18 at 11 a.m. Rev.
Donald Beck of the Fordwich Pastoral
Charge as guest minister. Lunch will follow
the service.
GUN CLUB NEWS
There were 17 shooters vying for top score
on Tuesday. September 22. Lloyd Veneer
and .Jody Moserinjohn both scored 25 points
