cash, a cruise
Win a van,
CLINTON - It's bigger and better than
ever. You could win a new 1988 Ford
Aeorstar Van, a Caribbean cruise, a Las
Vegas trip, or cash prizes - it's all part of the
excitement and fun to be featured on Satur-
day, October 3 at the Second Annual Casino
Fun Night at the Clinton Legion Hall from 9
p.m. to 1 a.m.
The fund raising effort for the Clinton
Public Hospital is back by popular demand
after a successful debut last year. Proceeds
from the draw will help finance the
$1 -million project to build a new obstetrical
wing at the hospital.
For this year's draw, a Ford Aerostar Van
is being offered as the grand prize. As well,
other prizes include a cruise, a Las Vegas
vacation, two weekend trips to Wheels Inn in
Chatham and a Montreal holiday. As well,
cash prizes totalling more than $1,500 are
also to be won.
In total the 16 prizes to be drawn are
valued at over $22,765 and only 350 tickets
are being sold. Chances of winning are one
in 16.
Draws will be made on October 3 at the
Casino Night. The evening's entertainment
will also feature favorite games of chance
and lively fun. Admission tickets are $2
each. With the admission ticket comes a
change to win a door prize, an Atlantic City
trip, and $2,000 in play money for the Casino
Night fun.
Tickets for both the car draw and general
admission to Casino Night are still available
in limited quantities.

Reducing red tape applications ....
because, "They're not on the high priority
list now."
As well, there will be fewer items to han-
dle and local planners will be dealing with
local situations.
In the final category, decisions, Dr.
Davidson says there will be more local in-
put, "Which we feel is very valuable."
He also sees local planning goals, opposed
to provincial planning goals being used.
During the question period, Councillor
Gord Gerrits said, "If there is a request for
approval in Clinton for a subdivision and
then one in Goderich would you not be in
situation of being too close to the fire to see
what you're doing?"
Dr. Davidson said the decision would be
made on the local demands.
What it basically amounts to, according to
Dr. Davidson, is we'll ask, "Does Clinton
want it?"
. from page 1
decision makers are right there and are in-
volved in the situation. Under the same
heading he included the fact that the deci-
sion is made by a vote, "Not by a minister in
his office."
Time is what Dr. Davidson says is the big-
gest savings.
"It takes about two and a half years Ito
get an appplication through) now. Nine
months of that is in decision making - that's
one building season."
He also feels that less red tape is a time
saving device.
Local knowledge and site inspections is
also a benefit, says Dr. Davidson, as this
allows each municipality the local
variation.
Under administration, Dr. Davidson sees
applications being handled more efficiently
