OUTING
Huronview residents were treated to a nice
fall backyard outing at the home of Mary
Gibbiggs, director of environmental ser-
ces and social services, on September 23.
Aside from having a tasty outdoor lunch, the
residents assisted in stripping wild grape
vines of their leaves, and molding the vines
into wreaths. One of the completed wreaths
is displayed by a resident in the above
photo. (David Emslie photos)
Capacity crowd honor warden
BELMORE -. A capacity crowd lined the
Community Centre here on September 25 to
pay tribute to Huron County Warden Brian
McBurney at an appreciation night held in
his honor.
Mr. McBurney, who is reeve of Turnberry
Township, will complete his term as warden
this December. He is the first Turnberry
reeve to sit in the warden's chair since 1956.
Turnberry Deputy Reeve Doug Fortune

He said the large crowd was indicative of
the respect Mr. McBurney commands, not
only in his own township, but in the entire
county. Mr. Fortune commended Mr.
McBurney for his constant attention to
Turnberry Township, particularly in light of
his commitments at the county level.

CLINTON - It you're a teenager with some
talent in music or dance and want a chance
to win $100.00, then you should be entering
the Clinton Arts. Committee's Second An-
nual "Harvest of Talent" Contest. It will be
held on Friday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Clinton Town Hall.
This year there will be only one contest
night and the first 25 people to enter will be
selected to compete.
Contestants will be judged on neutral
ability, quality of performance, showman-
ship and audience appeal. The following
classifications will be accepted as entries:
Vocal solo, Instrumental solo, Dance solo,or
group (up to 4), Vocal and/or Instrumental
group (including bands) and Variety solo or
group (up to 4).
Prizes will be awarded as follows: first
prize $100, second prize $50 and third prize
$25. Other contestants will receive awards
of merit.
Entry forms may be obtained from the
Town Hall or from Bonnie Jewitt, Box 1116.
Entries should be received as soon as possi-
ble. Last year's winner was Ron Greidanus
who arranged and performed classical
music on the piano.
Coming up next in the Clinton Town Hall
(Saturday, October 3, 1987) is the first event
of the CAC's Children's Entertainment
Series. April and Susan will perform
original songs, poetry and theatre. The
series is very affordable: three events for
the entire family is $20.00, or three events
for one child is $8.00. Tickets will be
available at the door in a limited quantity,
on a first come first served basis at $3.00 per
person. Doors will open 10 minutes before
the performance.
There are still tickets available for the
Clinton Arts Committee's Second Annual
Adult Subscription Series featuring three
professional events for $20.00. This year per-
formers come from Vancouver to Halifax to
entertain Clinton audiences.
The Vancouver, Wind Trio will perform
Saturday, November 21 at 8:00 p.m. If you
think this sounds like stuffy, formal
classical music evening, you'll be in for a
surprise! There's enough light hearted com-
edy and variety in this performance to ap-
peal to every taste.
In January, just when everybody's corn-
plaining about that "let -down feeling" after
Christmas and New Year's celebrations are
over, there's "Life After Hockey". Friday,
January 29, 1988. Again you won't have to be
a hockey fanatic to enjoy this performance,
though hockey nuts will be sure to be
laughing loudest.
In March, to complete the series, the
"Jest in Time Theatre" will be travelling
from Halifax to present its original style of
physical theatre. Mime, voice, acting and
movement combine to entertain you on
Saturday, March 26, 1988.
A Wine and Cheese kick off party for
ticket sellers for the Clinton Arts Committee
will be held in the auditorium of the Town
Hall un Wednesday, October 21 at 8:00 p.m.
As if that's not enough, the spearhead of
the Clinton Community Players, Steven
Oliver, is hoping to get people together to
reminisce about Clinton's colorful history
and write a play about our own fair town!
Anyone who would like to participate in this
endeavor is invited to contact the Clinton.
Community Players through the Town Hall
at 482-3997.
