1987-88 season was held on September 14 in
the Royal Homes Conference Room. Rev.
John Vaudry, pastor at St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church, Wingham, gave a
reading which speaks of the humanity of the
unborn. Rev. Vaudry read a commentary on
the psalm, which stated that from the very
beginning we were ordained by God.
President Jim Bakelaar commented ori
the great success of the bike-a-thon held on
June 20 and expressed thanks to the
organizers and all who took part in and sup-
ported the event. Funds raised will be used
tor educational purposes, particularly TV
commerc is ls.
At present, three conunercials are being
aired on CKNX, Channel 8. ')'hese commer-
cials feature women who have had abortions
sharing their feelings in the aftermath. The
group will look into purchasing additional
air time for more commercials.
Voice for Life has contributed to the Na-
tional Pro -Life Telethon, which will be aired
across Canada February 12-A. The purpose
of the telethon -is to reach all Canadians
across the vast country with the pro-life
Imessal'e. ('1<NX'I'V will curry the telethon.
The board lauded Murray Cardiff, MP

which would give protection to the unborn

the Bill was defeated by a vote of 89-62.

booth at the upcoming Teeswater Fair. The
purpose of the booth is to provide informa-

euthanasia, and infanticide.. New pam-

Increase in interestfree loan
Young entrepreneurs can now borrow up
to $7,500, interest-free, from Ontario's
Youth Venture Capital program. The
previous limit was $5,000.
Gregory Sorbara, Minister of Skills
Development, said that the limit was in-
creased in recognition of the fact that
start-up costs have risen and it is often dif-
ficult for young people to raise capital.
"The Youth Venture Capital loans
enable those who have practical business
ideas to put them to work. We want to en-
courage that entrepreneurial spirit."
Sorbara also announced that the
government guarantee on loans has been
extended to five year from two with a
monthly repayment schedule of two per
cent.
The changes are expected to attract an
additional 300 participants a year, an in-
crease of 40 percent.
The $2.3 million Youth Venture Capital
initiative is part of the Ministry of Skills
Development's Start .Up program. Par-
ticipants must be between 18 and 29, out of
school and must provide a minimum of 20
per cent of the starting capital. They must
also submit a business plan for approval.
More than 2,700 loans have been approv-
ed since the program began almost three
years ago. One of the main reasons ap-
plicants are refused is lack of sufficient
capital.
The program is administered by the
Ministry of Skills Development and co-
sponsored by the Ontario Chamber of
Commerce, the Royal Bank of Canada and
the Ministry of Industry, 'Trade and
Technology.
"It .is important that we promote the
ownership of small business as a career
option. The new measures will help young
people with fledging businesses pay off
their loans in full and establish a cash flow
to permit growth and stability," Mr. Sol,
bara said.
