For the final day of races at the Clinton Raceway, the theme of "The Battle of the Sexes"
was, run. One participant in the battle was one of Ontario's best known female drivers,
Karen Fekete. Karen stopped off to see the horse she would be driving in the fifth race,

Men, women do battle
CLINTON - Fred Sadler and Cindy Horner
were the top men and women's drivers at
the race track here on Sunday when they
won top points in the Battle of the Sexes
features.
The Battle of the Sexes highlighted the
final day of racing for the season at the
harness track in Clinton.
Top point getter, Fred Sadler received a
Citizen watch, presented by Anstett
Jewellers, while Cindy Horner won a
similar prize for her top score in the
women's division.
Ross Battin, Ken Quirie, Greg Darnell,
Tammy Watt, Donna DeGrow, and Karen
Fekete also competed in the event. Their
scores were tallied over six races.
The first race of the day, the Fleming
Feed Mill Pace, was won by 1 • lers

the season for the six year old gelding, own-
ed and driven by Art Abbott of Centralia.
Fred Sadler brought Freedomns Best in
second place for owner William Cadman of
Parkhill and Easy Conquest was third for
driver Ross Battin and Larjon Stables of
Wingham.
The Battle of the Sexes was in full swing in
the second when Cindy Horner took the first
place spot with Frosty Ringoes, for owner
Nadia Neff of Deleware. In the past 12 starts
the gelding has recorded seven wins, two
seconds and one third place finish. In Clin-
ton, Ringoes paced the mile in 2:03.1.
Fred Sadler was behind the reins of Arm-
bro Calgary for second place and Johnny
Karu was third, for driver Ken Quirie.
The triactor paid $1,459.80 in the third
when Changing Seasons, Star of Dallas and
Highland Dreamer crossed the finish line in
the 1-2-3 positions.
Changing Seasons, a four year old mare
ran the mile in 2:09.3 for driver Donna
DeGrow. Star of Dallas was in second for
driver Ken Quirie and Ross Battin drove
Highland Dreamer in the third spot.
Willhemakeit, a four year old gelding,
won the fourth race in a time of 2:11.1. It
was the first win recorded for the pacer in
the last 20 starts. Turn to page 9 •

LEAF PICK. UP
—Weather Permitting —
The Public Works, Town of Clinton will pick up leaves that
are SECURELY -CONTAINED in bags or boxes and left at
the roadside. Leaves must be kept separate from garbage.
Pick up will be effective immediately, every Monday to and
including November 16, 1987.
RESIDENTS ARE ALSO REMINDED that as stated in By -
Law 6-87 the burning of leaves, rubbish or other materials
is prohibited within the municipal boundaries. Acting con-
trary to this by-law can bring fines of up to $1,000.00.
The original debris pick up was intended for Spring Cleanup
in April and May only and is not in effect at this time and
is the responsibility of the individual to arrange proper
disposal.
