CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1987—Page 9 fellowship and Friendship In honor of the anniversary of St. Andrew's United Church in Bayfield, Rev. John Hoekstra gathered together seven people who between them have a total of 481 years of church membership. Of these 481 years, 449 were on the rolls of Rayfield churches. In the back row, left, the members and the time they joined are: Jean Bell, 1922; Elva Metcalf, 1919; Roy Scotchmer, 1922; Freida Scotchmer, 1919. In the front row, left, are: Ester Makins, 1919; Lillian Penhale, transferred to Bayfield 1924; Jean Campbell, 1913. An 85th anniversary service was held prior to this photo session on August 23 to commemorate the first service giveh in the building on Angst 24, 1902. ( David Emslie photo) Guest speaker conducts worship at Huronview HURONVIEW - Sunday morning worship was held in the auditorium and the guest speaker was Rev. Cecil Wittoch of Listowel. Music was under the direction of Margaret McQueen. Monday morning several of the residents took off to spend the day in Stratford, a time out for shopping and dinner. The CNIB held a potluck supper on Wednesday evening at the Wesley -Willis United Church in Clinton. Some of the members from the Bluewater Blind Club attended. The August birthday party, honoring all those people who had a birthday in this month, took place in the auditorium. The entertainment and refreshments were in charge of the Londesboro group. Rev. John Pluta conducted Roman Catholic Mass Friday morning in the chapel. Friday at noon, all the staff members en- joyed their barbecue of hotdogs and ham- burgers with all the trimmings. ENGAGEMENT Clinton businessman dies Raymond Leon Dupuis Ray Dupuis, well known for his shoe repair business in Clinton, died in hospital here on August 28. He was 64. Mr. Dupuis had Ray and Mike's Shoe Repair for 35 years in Clinton. He was born in Tilbury, Essex County on March 25, 1923, the son of the late Didion Dupuis and Marie Thibert. Mr. Dupuis enlisted in the Army in 1941 and was based at Aldershot, Nova Scotia. It was during this time that he learned the shoe repair business. In 1946 he was discharged from the army. On July 21, 1952 he was married to Catherine Malenfant at McGregor, Ontario. Following their marriage, they lived for the brief time in Leamington, then moved to Clinton where they resided until 1958, when they moved to Concession 13 of Goderich Township. Mr. Dupuis was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Clinton. He also served as a Scout leader in Clinton. Along with his wife, Mr. Dupuis is surviv- ed by two.daughters, Betty (Mrs. Burnham Carlyle) and Rose Marie (Mrs. Richard Lansdowne) both of London and one son Michael, at home. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Rebecca Carlyle. He is also survived by two sisters, Sophraine (Mrs. William Bonneau ) of Com- ber, Adeline ( Mrs. Gene Mailloux) of Tecumseh and two brothers Eli and Adrian Dupuis, both of Windsor. He was predeceas- ed by one sister Victoria and by a brother David Dupuis. Funeral services were held on August 31 at St. Joseph's Clinrch with Rev. John Pl.uta officiating. Interment was held at the Clin- ton Cemetery. Ball and Falconer Funeral home made the funeral arrangements. Pallbearers were Camille Dupuis, Frank Malenfant, Joseph Malenfant, Harold Mahon, Howard Pilton and Frank Bushie. ' The Seaforth resident died at Victoria Hospital, London on August 23. She was 70. Born in Ishpeming, Michigan on April 26, 1917, she was the daughter of John Dorsey and May Williams. She lived in Stratford and in 1940 she graduated from St. Michael's School of Nur- sing in Toronto. After graduation she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she nursed at St. Joseph's Hospital. On February 18, 1950 in Chicago, she mar- ried John Peter Kui z. They raised children, Mary Anne (Mrs. William McGarth) of Ac- ton, Mary Theresa ( Mrs. Thomas Hepburn) of London, Joanne ( Mrs. Jerome Aubin) of London and William Kunz of London. In 1968 Mrs. Kunz returned to live in Seaforth where she continued to nurse, both at Seaforth Hospital and the Seaforth Manor. She retired in 1980. Along with her husband and children, Mrs. Kunz is survived by one brother, Jack Dorsey of London and 10 grandchildren. Rev. Frank Moylan conducted the August 26 funeral services. Pallbearers were John Ball, Gary Betties, Tom Devereaux, Pat Malone, Art McNaughton and Der Sills. In- terment was hald at St. James Cemetery. Ball and Falconer Box Funeral Chapel made the funeral arrangements. Alexander Howe Funeral services were held on August 31 at Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clin- ton, for Alexander Howe. The Huronview resident died in St. Joseph's Hospital, London on August 25. He was 54. Born in Downie Township, Perth County, on April 6, 1933, he was the son of the late William F. Howe and Grace Margaret Stevenson. He is survived by two brothers, Kenneth of Victoria, B.C. and Murray of Hensall. Rev. James Bechtel officiated at the August 31 funeral services. Interment was held at the Avortbank Cemetery, 'Downie Township. Wise-Knickle Judy Wise, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wise of Clinton and Dale Knickle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Knickle of Digby, Nova Scotia were wed on August 29 at Wesley Willis United Church, Clinton. Rev. James Bechtel officiated. The bride's sister, Margie Wise of London was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Archer of Clinton and Lynn Krete of Cambridge. Junior bridesmaid was the groom's niece. Jodi Knickle of Oshawa. The best man was John Morrison of Brampton. Ushers were Jim Lavalle of Brampton and Steve Wise of London, the bride's brother. Junior usher was the groom's nephew, Brian Grunder of Harrow. A wedding reception was held at the Goderich Township Community Centre. The newlyweds will reside in Brampton.
