CLINTON -e public hospital here has been given approval to award the construc- tion contract for its obstetrical floor addi- tion, Health Minister Murray Elston an- nounced recently. "The Ministry of Health will provide capital funding of $400,000 for the $1.1 -million project," Mr. Elston said. "The hospital, along with the Clinton community and the County of Huron, will be responsible for providing the $726,404 balance of the total project cost." ed to D. Grant and Sons Ltd. of Lambeth. The new 6,000 square -foot obstetrical department will permit the centralization of all obstetrical services in a single area. Cur- rently, obstetrical facilities are located in several areas in and around the hospital's existing second floor chronic care ward. Construction will begin inunediately, and is expected to be completed early in 1988. Hog farmer and employee charged after manure spill HULLETT TWP. - The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has charged two Hien after liquid pig manure was spilled into a drain which leads to a municipal drain. Wayne J. Colclough, of Concession 4, Hullett Township, and his employee, Ray- mond J. Rammeloo, of RR 4, Brussels, joint- ly face one charge under section 16(11 of the Ontario Water Resources Act, which per- tains to the possibility of impairing water quality. Mr. Colclough also faces one charge under section 83(1 i of the Drainage Act. which ner- tains to discharging material into drainage system. The charges follow a ministry investiga- tion into the events of November 16 and N. 1986, when liquid pig manure was spread on farm property. Don't make it the last weekend of your life. "The OPP will do .its part to prevent needless loss of life with increased enforce- ment and the 'Strict Is Fair' and RIDE pro- grams, but we cannot do it alone", said OPP Commissioner Archie Ferguson. "Our officers will attempt to save lives by stooping impaired and carele' '•- 'rs on Ontario highways, but the motoring public must do its part by driving intelligently. The OPP will closely monitor traffic dur- ing the Labour Day weekend. Approximate- ly 2,000 officers will be patrolling Ontario highways on the weekend, making max- imum use of 400 radar units and 500 roudsidc alcohol breath testers.
