Wilbert (Bert) Garrett
Wilbert ( Bert) Stanley Garrett, of Clinton,

August 16. He was 69 years old.

Happenings from the
Queensway Nursing Home
Monday morning at Queensway got
started with Current Events in the Day
Room, Choir practice took place in the after-
noon followed by Drawing Club. There are
some talented artists at Queensway though
most are too modest to admit it.
Tuesday morning residents met for Bak-
ing Club. They produced delicious Rhubarb
Custard Pies. Fun and Fitness loosened
them up later in the Activity Room. Several
of the exercises require repetitions of five to
10. Residents counted time in German,
Dutch, English and French. A lot of fun.
In the afternoon Reverend Alles led the
worship service. Gertie Fleischauer was
pianist.
Wednesday afternoon had Library Time
with everyone browsing through the
numerous library books. Luella Hall read a
humorous story to everyone from a book
about the old time school houses and some of
the student antics.
Thursday evening residents played Bingo
with the Zurich Mennonite ladies. It was fun•
and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the
special cupcakes they shared.
"A walk In the Forest" was the Movie of
the week on Friday. An excellent nature
film on wildlife and plants found in the
forest was shown.
Assistive devices for
disabled long awaited
"The Ontario March of Dimes is delighted
by the Ontario government's announcement
to expand the assistive devices program,"
said David Logan, President of the Ontario
March of Dimes.
The Ontario March' of Dimes, together
with allied consumer groups and agencies,
has been asking successive Ontario govern-
ments to expand the assistive devices pro-
gram to adults with disabilities.
Many adults with physical disabilities
now face critical delays in obtaining such
essential equipment as wheelchairs and
braces. Those without sufficient funds to
pay for these devices, must rely on charity
or try to penetrate tile, labryinth of different
government prograins. Disabled youths up
to 23 are now provided with 75 percent of the
funding for these devices by the Ontario
Ministry of Health.

tario March of Dimes board meeting
precisely at the point at which we were
discussing the stresses on our tight assistive
devices program budget."
"The Ontario March of Dimes has been
delighted as well by the attention given dur-
ing this campaign by all three party leaders
on issues affecting people with disabilities,
their families and friends," David Logan
said.
"We have circulated a questionnaire to
party leaders on these issues and have
received comprehensive answers."
Questionnaires have also been circulated
to all candidates in nearly every riding in
Ontario and are now being collected and
tabulated.
Before the first advance poll on,
September :3, the Ontario March of Dunes
will be holding a news conference to release
the leaders' answers to these questions and
to elaborate on Ontario March of Dimes
reaction to them.
