However, Mr. tions. (Anne Narejko photo) Fraser will be missed by more than Royal Bank customers and Steve Fraser accepts position in London By Anne Narejko ' CLINTON - Not only will the customers of the Clinton branch of the Royal Bank miss the manager when he leaves, but Lions Club members, Clinton Public Hospital Board members, those involved with the Easter Seals and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) will also miss the man. Steve Fraser, who has been the branch manager of the Royal Bank since October, 1982, has accepted a promotion which will take him to London. "The whole family is going to miss Clin- ton. London will be our ninth location in 15 years, but Clinton has been our favorite location," Mr. Fraser said. The Fraser family has relocated already, with Mr. Fraser commuting. A replacement for his job is not expected to be named until mid-September when he will take on his new job. At the Clinton branch, Mr. Fraser's largest portfolio was farm credit but he also handled commercial accounts, looked after independent businesses and supervised the 10 employees at the bank. Mr. Fraser's office will be somewhat dif- ferent from what he has become accustom to in Clinton as he will not have to climb four or five stairs to get to it, but take the elevator to the 14th floor. "I never figured I was a 14th floor banker," he laughed. However, working in a city will not be completely new to him. "I worked in Montreal for four years when I was single but we (his family) enjoy small towns," Mr. Fraser said. "But if I had to pick a city, I'd pick London." Mr. Fraser has been very involved in the community during the five years he has liv- ed here. He has been a member of the Lions Club, chairman of the Easter Seals for four years, has worked with the CNIB for two years and has been on the Clinton Public Hospital Board for three years. Including his bank meetings, Mr. Fraser figures he at- tend a meeting once every three days. Speaking about his activities, and com- menting on his role as a hospital board member, Mr. Fraser said, "I'm really going to miss that, it was challenging and most in- teresting. It was very satisfying work." Mr. Fraser's wife, Marilyn, has also been active in town. She has been a member of the hospital's auxiliary and was her hus- band's right hand person during the Easter Seal campaigns. -She also kept all of my appointments straight on the calendar at home," com- mented Mr. Fraser. For the first six to eight months in Lon- don, Mr. Fraser plans to devote his time en- tirely to his job and family. After that he thinks he will get "itchy feet" and join some type of organization. The Frasers have chosen a home on the north end of London "closest to Clinton" and plan to return to town for major events. "It's hard to put a finger on what it is, but we're going to miss Clinton," said Mr. Fraser.
