gravel and tubing can be laid. IAnne Narejko photo)
Part of the trick is unravelling the tube cor-
rectly so it can be laid easily. Here Phil Ge-

backhoe, providing a gradual slant so the
water will flow. A bed of gravel is then plac-
ed and the pipe, which has small slots on the
top, bottom and sides, is placed on the
gravel, allowing the water to enter the pipe
and be carried to the junction where another
pipe leads it down a gully and out into the
lake.
The work began on July 30 and was
estimated to be completed by August 14.
Although the cottagers initiated the idea
and have carried out the work, they give a
lot of credit to Mr. Donnelly and Mr. Taylor.
"They've been very helpful and suppor-
tive," said Mr. Houser, who also added,
"This project has been fun."

Township builds new garage
Tuckersmith Township Council will start
construction of a new municipal garage this
month, to be located on Concession 2 at the
western outskirts of Egmondville.
At a special meeting, council accepted the
tender of Kase Vanden Heuvel of R.H. 2
Goderich for the construction.
The Goderich contractors tender, one of
three received, amounted to $236,616 and
will be submitted to the Ministry of
Transportation and Communication for
final approval. The engineer for the work is
Bill Kelly of W.E. Kelly and Associates of
Kitchener.
At the request of council all gravel and fill
material necessary during the construction
is to be obtained from the township pit
located nearby. Work is to start next week
on the site and will be completed next year.
Two cars flip in area accidents
August 12 proved to he a bad day for some
drivers in this area as on two separate occa-
sions cars flipped over.
In the first accident of the day Barbara
Rahn, 17, of Kippen was travelling along
Concession 3-4 of Goderich Township when
she caught the loose gravel and rolled her
vehicle.
While her 1985 Nissan received $8,000 in
damages, the driver was not injured.
Constance Kole, 27, of Goderich received
minimal injuries in the accident that occur-
red just west of Varna on County Road 3.
The Kole vehicle was eastbound on the
county road when it went into the ditch and
rolled twice.
Damages to the Kole 1981 American
Motors vehicle were estimated at $1,800.
