Keri Anderson new Hullett Councillor
NULL) 1"1' 'l'W1, - J. Kenneth Anderson
was chosen to fill the vacant seat on council
here during a special meeting on .July 28.
There were four applicants to fill the seat
vacated by Harvey Stewart early in July.
Only one vote was needed to fill the seat as
Mr. Anderson won the confidence of Coun-
cillors Ron (Iross and Bob Szusz and lAputy
Reeve Joe Gibson. Reeve'l'orn Cunninghamgave his vote to Hugh Flynn. The other ap-
plicants were John Flynn and Don
Greidanus. .,..

The interest shown by these citizens of the
township to become councillors prompted
Councillor Gibson to state, "I just hope we
get as many to come out at election time."
Mr. Anderson was sworn in during coun-
c'il's August 4 meeting.
Other Business
After some discussion on township road
repairs, council moved to instruct the road
superintendent to repair two bumps west of
Highway 4 on Concession 10-11. Because of
some complaints about people turning their
ankles on the sidewalk by the church. the
superintendent was also instructed to work
on that area.
Tile drain loan applications for Lot 27,
Con. 4 and Lot 22, Con. 5 were approved by
council, subject to the availability of funds
and township bylaws.
Council moved to invite the Ontario
Beekeepers Association to a meeting to
discuss the nectar plantation on township
property.
Wilts officiates next service

service to be held in the village will be on
August 9. The guest speaker will be Rev.
Seibrand Wilts.
The village welcomes Harry and (;ail
(.ear, David and 1)anny who moved to the
village in July after purchasing the home of
Elsie Shaddick. Mrs. Shaddick is now living
in Maple Wood Manor, Seaforth.
Vacation Bible School Will be held from
August 10 to August 14. Registration is on
August 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The WI public relations meeting will be
held on August 12 at 8 p.m. lois Elliott will
be giving a report on the 90th anniversary
convention.
Muriel Millson of Woodstock spent the
(light of July 30 with her mother Dora Shob-
brook. Sarah spent the night with Tracy
Salverda.
Margaret Good had the misfortune to fall
and break a bone in her foot on July 30. She
is now wearing a walking cast.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson spent from
July 28 to August 1 at a Constago Lake
cottage.
Mary Longman was admitted to Clinton
Public Hospital on August 2.
It's good to report that Doug Maize return-
ed home on July 31 from London Hospitals
for a trial run check.
Auburn residents return from trip
Mr. and Mrs. I,en Deveau of Auburn, Mr.
and Mrs. .Jerry Deveau of Elliot Lake
returned from a trip to Nova Scotia visiting
family there.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Ross An-
drews and family and to Mrs. Ross Daer and
family on the death of their father Ben
Brown who passed away in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, last week in his 71st year.
Recent visitors with Mrs. Frances Clark
were Mrs. ,Jean Hughes and Mrs. Evelyn
Errington of I.ucknow, Misses Jean Houston
and Jean Jamieson of Toronto:
Mr. Jack Young of Mitchell visited with
Ellen .Johnston and Laura Phillips for two
weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Stan McNall of
Welland are visiting Laura Phillips and
Ellen .Johnston for two weeks. Prior to ar-
riving here, they were honored guests of the
Prime Minister and the honorable Michael
Wilson and his wife at a dinner reception for
their highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of
York, at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto.

Business, Social, Political and Cultural
Communities.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Shuttleworth, Aaron
and Vanessa moved to Sheffield, Ontario,
recently.

his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson
on the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Toll of London
visited on Wednesday with his sister Mar-
jorie McDougall.

Following the meal games were enjoyed
by all ages conducted by Joyce Thompson.
The oldest person present was .Joe Thomp-
son of Goderich, the youngest child was
.Jessica Coyne of Waterloo. The person com-
ing the farthest was Ruth Coyne of Windsor,
the person who guessed the nearest number
of jubes in jar was Laura Phillion of Coll-
ingwood, the person who guessed the
nearest number of peanuts in jar was Aantje
Robinson of Wingham. The nearest birthday
went to Jim Taylor of RR 5, Wingham.
Those present were from Burlington,
Tillsonburg, Windsor, Collingwood,
Waterloo, New Market, Goderich,
Wingham, l,ucknow, Toronto, London, and
Belgrave.

for farms

Forage Crop Testing Program

On-farm forage crop testing will be
available to farmers throughout Ontario
this summer.
The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and
Food has announced a Summer Experience
'87 Program called Forage Crop Testing
whereby eight summer students have been
hired to arrange and make on-farm appoint-
ments to take forage crop samples of hay,
haylage and grain. These samples will be
submitted to Agri -Food Laboratories in
Guelph to be analyzed. Farmers are asked
to take handfuls of haylage from various
loads to get a random sample, and freeze
the sample until the Forage Crop Tester
arrives.
Farmers enrolled in the Red Meat Pro-
gram or Pork Industry Improvement Pro-
gram should have their feed vouchers readi-
ly available to use.
Assistance required with ration formula-
tion will be available from local agricultural
offices. The program will run for a max-
imum of 10 weeks from June 22nd until
August 28th, 1987. For an appointment call
the agricultural office at Clinton and leave a
message.
Our Forage Crop Tester for this area,
Grace Johnston, will be working out of the
Huron County Office in Clinton, and will
cover the areas of Huron and Perth
Counties.

Forty-four members of the Black family
gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. i,e
Roy Rintoul at St. Helens on August 2. Those
attending were from: Belgrave, Blyth,
Dungannon, Milton and Brandon Manitoba.
All enjoyed an afternoon of races and games
followed by a most enjoyable meal.
Elizabeth Procter visited with her
daughter Marjorie Procter and Phillip
Stopforth of London from .July 30 to August
2, and attended the Royal Canadian Big
Band Festival. They also saw the Hot Air
Balloon Fiesta in Harris Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Xenneth Black. Jamie' and
.Joan of Brandon, Manitoba, are spending
some holidays with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Stanley. Black.
Mrs. Gordon Bosman visited her sister.
Agatha Kassa of Calgary, Alberta. She also

Clinehey, sister of the groom, of Kitchener.
Bestman was Garry Manning of Toronto
and ushers were Craig Millar, brother of the
bride, of Londeshoro, and Scott Young,
hrother of the groom, of Blyth. Following a
reception at Goderieh Township Community
Centre, the couple honeymooned in Ottawa

of Blyth, were married on June 27 at
Londeshoro United Church with Rev. Dave
Snihur and Rev. Ken Bauman officiating.
Maid of honor was Sally Hall of Owen Sound
and bridesmaids were Linda Millar, sister
of the bride, of Port Elgin, and Karen Me-
Clinehey, sister of the groom, of Kitchener.
Bestman was Garry Manning of Toronto
and ushers were Craig Millar, brother of the
bride, of Londeshoro, and Scott Young,
hrother of the groom, of Blyth. Following a
reception at Goderieh Township Community
Centre, the couple honeymooned in Ottawa
and surrounding area. They will reside at
