Lions Club donates to recreation By Helen Owen It was a very busy and successful morning for the Bayfield Lions on July 5. People were in line before they opened and continued in a steady stream all morning. But the ex- perienced Lions worked away serving their pancake breakfasts with liberal helpings of sausages and maple syrup. This time the proceeds will go to the recreation commit- tee who will appreciate this as it will go towards the amount they still have to raise to complete the payment for their lights. The Lions' Club would like to thank all .those who, supported them. Just an early reminder that the Bayfield Lioness will be holding their Fashion Show on July 22 - make a note of the date now for this is an enjoyable evening. Also from 22-24 the ladies will be busy with the penny sale - make sure you get your tickets and a chance to win one or some of the wonderful prizes. Seniors' Up -Date The steering committee are meeting again this week and plans for the support services have now reached the stage when it is necessary to follow up on those who signified they would like to participate. The provision of meals has top priority and as the replies to the questionnaire in- dicated that there were quite a few who would welcome this, we now require the names, addresses and telephone numbers. In order to get this program of the ground as soon as possible, please call Helen Owen (565-2956) as it is important that we know the numbers involved. We also need to know who will require transportation, when and who, unable to get out would like a meal brought to them at home. Another question which provoked a good deal Of interest was the introduction of a handyman service, and it is hoped to start this with one day a week allocated to meet Bayfield's needs. Again, if you require this please call Helen,Owen at the above number. Thanks to te no -operation of Town and Country Homemakers these two ser- vices will be put in place as soon as the needs have been clearly identified. The Ever Young Club, are of course, a part of the planning and it is proposed to in- itiate subscriptions in order to meet the ex- penses. There will have to be some capital outlay and therefore all members of the community will be welcome to contribute. Watch out for further details, and mean- while, don't forget to call in, as the sooner we know the numbers the sooner we can get going. Swimming and Play Day This year the swimming program organized by the recreation committee, with transportation paid for the Optimist Club, is proving an ovewhelming success. '.57 children have registered. Another program, which starts on July 9: is the once a week play day which will ruri for the next seven weeks.
