The strategy is the result of public meetings, and think tanks which Dr. Munro and Minister Without Portfolio Tony Ruprecht held across Ontario in 1985 and 1986. Dr. Munro also received advice from the Ontario Advisory Council on Multiculturalism and Citizenship as well as from individuals and groups with whom she met. Cabinet endorsed seven fundamental principles of multiculturalism which recogn,iz'e'that people of diverse backgrounds enrich Ontario. Through this strategy the government supports full par- ticipation in society and the opportunity for all people to retain their culture if they so choose.
