Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth MacDonald of Teeswater were dinner guests with their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on June 28. Weekend visitors with their mother Sarah Anderson were, Mrs. Ted Hunking, Auburn; Mr-. and Mrs. James Anderson, Jeffery and Amanda of Guelph; Mr. and Mrs. William Schreiber of Milton; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hartlin of Kingston; Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Dawes and Raymond of Mississauga; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moy, Craig and Sara of Mississauga. They all attended Knox United Church Country Fayre. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Walker returned home on June 22 after visiting with cousins in Western Canada. Frances McCammon of Islington spent a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse visiting with other cousins Irlma Edgar and Winnifred Johnston of Wingham and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Edgar and Don of RR 4 Wingham and visited with her step- mother, Kathleen Lockridge, who is a pa- tient in the Wingham and District Hospital. Sheep Club News The fourth meeting of the Huron County Sheep Club was held on June 13 at Renay Taylor's home. Members opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. Minutes were read' from the last meeting and they discuss- ed upcoming events. Meeting four was about cross -breeding and which breeds should be cross -bred together for certain traits. The meeting closed with the 4-H motto, lunch was served and the Taylors were thanked for hosting the meeting. WI Happenings A banquet was held in the Belgrave Women's Institute Hall on June 23 for the students who graduated from Grade 8 at the East Wawanosh Public School. Kindergarten class holds graduation Tuesday morning June 22 a large crowd of parents and grandparents filled the base- ment of Duff's United Church for the 1986-87 Kindergarten Graduation for the Walton Public School. Kindergarten Variety is the Spice of Life was the theme of the program. Mr. Jewitt, the principal, welcomed everyone then the introduction of the children followed by a song, "How do you do?" The Kindergarten boys gave a poem, "The Apple and the Worm" followed by a song "9 Little Ducks". The Kindergarten girls did a dance, "Skip to my Lou". Then all children participated in "Nursery Rhyme Fun Book. A slide presentation was given entitled, "Kindergarten Variety is the Spice of Life". After the closing song presentation of diplomas and report cards were given out along with awards and honorable mentions. Kindergarten children included Kevin Bernard, Ronnie Cardinale, Barri/ Comeau. Darrell Dalton, Nicholas Den Haan, Abby Dietz, Melisa Driscoll, James Emmrich, Melissa Harrison, Jennifer Lubbers, Carol McCall, Janice McCallum, Theresa Mc- Clory, Kerrie McClure, Sarah McLennan, Robert Mitchell, James Smith, Jason Thompson and Ellen Workman. Principal is Gary Jewitt, vice-principal, Al Sygrove, teacher, Joan Vandendoal. • CHURCH NEWS Sunday morning greeters at Duff's United were Margery Ritchie and Ann Clark. Pianist was Glenda Carter and ushers were Roy Williamson and Neil Mitchell. Rev. Bonnie l,amble was in charge of the service, the sermon was "Costly Discipleship". Next Sunday service at the same time. PEOPLE VACATIONING Kendra Shortreed is spending this week at the 1'resbyterian Camp at Kintail. Mrs. Bev Stevenson, Hon and Chris visited for a few days with Fred and Kaye Stevenson, Dana, Vance and Judd at Whitby. On Father's Day, June 21, Gail Searle of Brampton,. Gordon and Mary Saunders of Royal Oak, Michigan visited with Allan and Alice Searle. Mrs. Pat Bennett, London spent a few days with Mary Humphries, they attended the Bryans — Moore wedding in Goderich on Saturday. In last week's issue it should have read Mr. and Mrs. Jack Webster, Edmonton, Alberta were visiting in the surrounding area. We are sorry to report Mr. Webster is in a London Hospital following a fall last Tues- day at Mel Webster's home in Clinton. His many friends and relatives are anxious to hear of any improvement in his condition. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen returned home on June 24 after travelling for theirication through Northern Ontario to Saskatchewan to North Dakota and back through the Nor- thern United States. They visited with their grandson Brian Jackson in Fort Frances and their cousins in Delisle and Conquest, Saskatchewan. June 24 visitors with Dora Shobbrook were her granddaughter, Joan Garrow of Ottawa, and Dora Lynn Blake, Vicky and Chastity Colquhoun of Clinton. Piekell of Goderich conducting the service. Knox Church Pastor Gary Shuttleworth conducted the confirmation service at the church. Organ prelude by choir director Lori Millian. Call to worship, prayer of invocation and life and work of the church were given as were the prayer of confession and words of assurance followed by the Lord's Prayer. The act of confirmation took place and Julie and Leona Cunningham were welcom- ed as new members of the United Church. The children's hymn was sung adn the children went to junior congregation. The pastor's sermon was entitled "Who are God's people." Offering Was received by Lawrence Plaetzer, Teadde Bakker, Murray Rollison and Ken Ramsey. Pastor Shuttleworth onounced the benediction and service closed with Three Fold Amens.
