Neil Simon classic to
CLINTON - Because the Clinton Com-
nitinitPlayers first production in
December of Lovers Leap was so Well
received by the public, the group has been
busily rehearsing what promises to be yet
another stage success. If you enjoy a relax-
ing night out with friends, a belly full of
laughs, and an ever so subtle tug at your
heartstrblgs, please read on.
Neil Simon, perhaps more than any other
contemporary American playwright, has
earned a well deserved and enduring spot on
Broadway because he is the master of
theatrical hilarity, honesty, and direct and
deep1felt emotion. He truly respects the in-
tclligenve and the emotions of his audiences.
Repeatedly, audiences have returned to the
theatre to see his productions because they
11;n e been well entertained, while at the
,;u11
time, reminded of some universal
huninn truths.

Steffy (played by Diane Stevenson), a
movie makeup woman. Suddenly, Herb is
confronted with his distant and almost -
forgotten past in the person of his teenage
daughter Libby (played by Bernie Pugh),
who has trecked to Hollywood from
Brooklyn to see her father. On the surface,
Libby appears extremely confident and ar-
ticulate. She tells Herb that she wants him
to get her into pictures. Actually, unknown
to her, Libby begins a process to salvage
Herb. She finds a bit of lost love along the
way. How they pick up the pieces of a father -
daughter relationship makes for a very
poignant, tender, and nevertheless very fun-
ny story. They discover a great deal about
each other and themselves.
I Ought To Be In Pictures will be perform-
ed at the Clinton Town Hall Auditorium,
