Wesley -Gillis UCS holds luncheon meeting
CLINTON - The June executive Meeting
of Wesley -Willis UCW was held at Peggy
Menzies summer home on June 30.
A potluck luncheon was enjoyed by 28
members and the president opened the
meeting with a poem. The minutes of the
last meeting were read by Ruth Bond and
the treasurer report was given by Marilyn
Parr.
Kay Whitmore then introduced guest
speaker Sue Bonisteel of Stratford. She had
been sent to Port of Prince, Haiti, by the
United church on the Mission' Awareness
Project to find out what different project
could be started to help these people. Mis-
sion work started in Haiti in 1947 and con-
tributions have sent many children to
school, who would not otherwise receive an
education. •
The Mennonite church has been active in
Haiti and sent out Mr. and Mrs. Wall in 1968
who still remain there. The Parkhill Men-
nonites are responsible for building Grace
Children Hospital in Port of Prince and have
sent $30,000 recently to put water supply in
the hospital.
Mrs. Fingland thanked the speaker for
her talk and presented to her a floral' ar-
rangement made by Karen Whitmore.
Florence Miller reported that the finance
committee had met and a workshop was
scheduled for September 21.
The yard and bake sale is to be held on the
church parking lot, on June 13 at 9 a.m. If
you have items to be picked up please call
Donna Wood or Ruth Bond.

ENGAGEMENT
DUPEE-TYNDALL
Dorothy and Ken Dupee are
pleased to announce the for-
thcoming marriage of their
daughter, Brenda Ann to Ken-
neth Daniel Tyndall, son of Ir-
ma and Bill Marshall. The
wedding will take place on
Saturday, June 27, 1987 at 3:00
p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic
Church, Clinton.
Becktel announced that Mildred McAdam
was attending Westminister Weekend, Anne
Maclean was the delegate to Waterloo in Ju-
ly and Alma College will be having their
Womens Day on August 8.
The visiting committee hope to have a
good afternoon of fellowship with the sick
and shut-ins on June 23. Cars will be leaving
the church at 1:30 p.m. Cleta Holland said
that several cards and carnations had been
sent out, and that she had extended sym-
pathy to Gwen Mowatt in the passing of Dr.
Mowatt, a much loved past minister of the
congregation.
A new unit is to be started for the younger
ladies in September under the leadership of
Kay Wise apd Mildred McAdams.
On June 15 the UCW Campsite Experience
will be held at Camp Menesetung. The cars
will be leaving the church at 8:30 a.m. and
at noon a potluck lunch will be served.
A vote of thanks was extended to Peggy by
Elaine Becktel, for inviting members to her
home for the meeting.
Friendship night held by Rebekahs
CLINTON - Huronic Rebekah Lodge 306
held its regular meeting June 2, with 35
members present and 11 visitors coming
from Exeter, St. Marys, Goderich, Park Hill
and Hensall.
The meeting was chaired by Noble Grand
Sister Jean Wyatt, assisted by Vice Grand
Sister Joyce Chilton.
Final arrangements were made for a
representative and scholar to attend the
Rebekah Assembly Session in Toronto June
15 to 17.
It was decided the next meeting will be
held on June 22 and after a two month vaca-
tion, the September meeting will be held on
September 9.
A lunch, served by convenors Sisters Vera
Miller and Molly Cox, assisted by their
group, was enjoyed. After lunch the draw
was made with the second prize of $50 going
to Rebecca Bolton, Peterborough, and the
quilt was won by Vicki Wyatt, Essex. Pro-
ceeds of this draw will be donated to the
Clinton Public Hospital Building Fund.
Fun and games afternoon at Queensway
On Monday afternoon all the residents at
Queensway Nursing Home enjoyed an ex-
citing afternoon of friendly competition at
Fun and Games. Everyone who attended
has a super afternoon.
Shirley Luther conducted the Tuesday
afternoon church service. It was a beautiful
service filled with hymns, and -special
messages. Residents thank Mrs. Luther for

Wednesday morning residents started
their day with exercises, which was follow-
ed in the afternoon with the ladies from the
Christian Reformed Church coming over
and treating several to a delightful car ride.
Thursday afternoon it was time for the
monthly meeting of the Drawing Club. A
creative afternoon was spent drawing
favorite summer memories.

In the evening several attended the movie
of the week which was called "Plain Peo-
ple." It was a tremendous film outlining the
life of the traditional Mennonite.
To top off the week, on Friday afternoon
residents all got together for Library Time.
They went through all the super books that
they got at the Hensall Library, as well as
shared.some stories of their own.

Mrs. Clem Goulding of Vanastra, and Monty
Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kelly of
Vanastra, were married on June 6 at
Wesley -Willis United Church by Rev. James
Bechtel. Maid of honor was sister of the
bride Pam Bernard of Clinton and
bridesmaids were Sharon Arts, sister of the
bride and Wanda Ward both of Vanastra.
Best man was Dan Bernard, brother-in-law
of the bride of Clinton and ushers were
Frank Arts, brother-in-law of the bride, and
Tony Goulding, brother of the bride, both of
Vanastra. The couple will reside in
Vanastra.

Tanya DeGroot
At the 54th convocation of the University of
Waterloo on May 30, Tanya DeGroot,
youngest daughter of Joe and Else DeGroot
of Seaforth, received her Bachelor of Ap-
plied Science in Mechanical Engineering -
Management Science Option. Tanya is an
honor graduate Ontario Scholar of Central
Huron Secondary School and of Ecole Secon-
daire Algonquin, North Bay. She attended
St. James School, Seaforth. Tanya was the
recipient of four General Motors ('o -
operative Student Awards in recognition of
outstanding contribution to General Motors
of Canada Ltd. while at university. Tanya
has accepted a position with Magna Interna-
tional as a mechanical engineer.
