Input wanted
on county
government
CLINTON - Have any suggestions on the
structure, areas of responsibility and the ef-
fectiveness of the present county level of
government? Write your ideas down and
send them to the clerk -treasurer.
At council's June 1 meeting, it was decid-
ed to ask the public to submit ideas on the
county government. Council had previously
been asked for their suggestions by the
Ministry of Municipal Affairs which is stu-
dying the structure, responsibilities and ef-
fectiveness of government at the county
level.
The information which Clinton Council
receives will be incorporated in a brief and
forwarded to the Ministry of Municipal
Affairs.
Anyone with suggestions should send
them to the clerk by June 12.
CPH holds
annual
meeting
• CLINTON - The Corporation of Clinton
Public Hospital will be holding its Annual
Meeting on June 8, at St. Paul's Anglican
Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meeting will be
preceded by a dinner at a cost of $8.50 per
person with guest speaker Bill Brady. Mr.
Brady is well known for his humorous ad- .
dresses as well as his involvement with the
transplant organization in Canada. The
evening should be a special event for the
people of Clinton. Tickets are available at
the hospital.
The Board of Trustees wish to inform the
Corporation members that there will be an
election for Board members at this meeting
as six positions are up for election and eight
eligible individuals have agreed to let their
names stand for election to the Board. Those
individuals who are running for election
are;
Bill Brand who lives at RR 2, Bayfield and
has done so since 1954. Mr. Brand is a suc-
cessful farmer, hg is a member of the
Knights of Columbus and Chairman of the
Monster Bingo in Clinton. Mr. Brand is mar-
ried, has four children, and is very active
within his church.
Mike Falconer is ' a present Board
member and is seeking his second term. He
owns .the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home
and is an active member of the Industrial
Planning Board in the Town of Clinton. Mr.
Falconer has been a very active Board
member during his past two year term.
Faye Fear is a present Board member
and is also seeking re-election. Mrs. Fear
has been on the Board for seven years. Mrs.
Fear has been a long time resident of Clin-
ton and has been involved with many of the
communitites committees and volunteer
organizations.
Bill Hearn is the Chairman of the Board at
Clinton Public Hospital and is also seeking
re-election. Mr. Hearn is President of Epps
Manufacturing located here in Clinton. He
• serves on the Official Board of Wesley -Willis
United Church and has for over 30 years.
Mr. Hearn has been very active on the
hospital Board and has served on all of its
committees.
Al Jewson is a present Board member ser-
ving as its vice-chairman. Mr. Jewson is
seeking re-election for his second term and'
has been on several committees of the
Board serving them well. Mr. Jewson is a
member of the Ontario Street United
Church Board and has been for over 20
years. He is also past -president of OSSTF
District.
Leen Rehorst is a resident of Tuckersmith
Township and farms on a part time basis.
Mr. Rehorst, after an absence of one year
from the Board of Clinton Public Hospital, is
seeking election once again. Mr. Rehorst
was past chairman of the Board of Clinton
Public Hospital and has served on all of its
committees. Mr. Rohorst was chairman
when the new emergency wing was added to
the hospital.
Carol Wammes is a resident of Goderich
Township and is the owner of Mary's Sewing
Centre in Clinton. Mrs. Wammes is an ac-
tive member in her community, being on the
Gbderich Township Recreation Board and a
member of the Bluewater Creative Needle
Club. Mrs. Wammes is married and has two
children.
Edward (Eddy) Watson is a resident of
Blyth and is the owner of a livestock truck-
ing business. Mr. Watson also manages the
OPPMB yard in Blyth. Mr. Watson received
his education at the Ontario Agricultural
College in Guelph. He is married and has
five children.
The Board is pleased with the quality of
the candidates who let their names stand for
election and urges the Corporation
Members to attend the annual meeting and
vote for the candidates of their choice.
Monday euchre results
CLINTON - There were six winners on
June 1 when Monday Afternoon Euchre was
played at the town hall here.
For the ladies Vera Gibbings had the high,
Vera Colquhoun had the low and Marjorie
Caldwell had the lone hands.
Burt Gliddon had the high for the men
while Clark Stanley had the lone hands and
Olive Ball, playing as a man, had the low.
