HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News-Record, 1987-05-27, Page 41Page 14 CaUle, horses, poultry and sheep make the fair a fair The Clinton Spring Fair has a lane reputation of drawing a wide variety and plenty of livestock to the fair grounds each year, and undoubtedly, this year will be ao exception. The Huron County Holstein Show will begin on June 5 at noon. There will be several classes involved, including a school class, 4-H class, ladies' showman- ship class plus more. All ribbons will be presented by the Huron County Dairy Princess, Angela Nethery. The Ontario Jersey Spring Show, which attracted between 95 - 105 head last year, will also begin at noon on June 5. As well as having the usual classes, there will be a division entitled public school attraction, another called elemen- tary school attraction and a special 4-•H class. • The heavy horse competition is one that includes numerous types. The various classes are heavy draught, agricultural, Percheron, Belgian, commercial and special. The light horse competition, which draws entries from places such as the United States, Kingston, Princeton, Acton, Hamilton and Toronto, consists of two Hackney classes, one Roadster class and one Shetland class. This competition gets underway at noon on June 6. At 11 a.m. on June 6, the poultry judging will take place. Prize money will be awarded to Cocks, Cockerels, Hens and Pullets. Judging will take place in two categories, standards and bantams with the male and female in both categories receiving a ribbon. Also at 11 a.m. on June 6, the sheep show will get underway. This show also includes special categories. These include the Champion Sheep Showman, Champion Flock, Hullett Township Federation of Agriculture as well as two 4-H classes - Champion 4-H Sheep and Champion 4-H Showman. Other classes include the ewe "two tooth", the ewe "full mouth milk teeth", ram "two tooth", ram "full mouth milk teeth", Get For Sire, Breeders Flock, Champion and Reserve Champion Ewe and Champion and Reserve Champion Ram.
