Eventually he bought his own
chicken farm where he farmed
for 8.5 years. Then, when he
reached the age of 65, Mr.
Kuiper decided he wanted a
change of pace and no longer
wanted the responsibilities of
owning a farm.
When he announced this to
his son, Case Jr., his son said he
would like to run a farm, "So
we traded. We took his house
and he got the farm," said Mrs.
Kuiper.
When the couple took the big
step of leaving the land they
had known all their lives and
heading for Canada, it was just

However, things have changed.
"We have a big family now,"
said Mrs. Kuiper. "There are 6 3
people in it."
be together...
A large picture hangs on the
couple's living room wall show-
ing visitors the Kuiper's fami-
ly. Smaller pictures are on
shelves and tables so the proud
parents can show off their
children and grandchildren.

"We like it," said Mr. Kuiper.
"This is home now," said
Mrs. Kuiper. "Holland is damp
and cold and, when we lived
there, only one room in the
house was heated. Here it is
nice."
The Kuipers have been back
to visit Holland three times
since they left in 1953 and have
enjoyed themselves.
"We've gone to Holland for a
trip, but it's nice when we get
back home," Mrs. Kuiper said.
