Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson visited for
Easter with their son William of
Newmarket.
There will be a Goodwill Pickup of dona-
tions of clothes, etc., at Knox United
Church. Please have articles at the church
early on Monday, May 11 in the morning.
The UCW yard sale will be on May 16 at
the Community Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Park attended the
hockey game of the Maple Leaf Red Wings
in Toronto on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, April 26 Earl Raithby
celebrated his 90th birthday. He was born in
Auburn in 1897. He farmed east of Auburn
for 25 years. He retired to Goderich where
he worked for the Goderich Organ Company
and also Herco Sales Company. The family
held a birthday party in his honor at Huron -
view where he now resides. Guests wre
from Brantford, Kincardine, Bayfield,
Goderich and Auburn.
Knox church service
Rev. Pickell of Goderich conducted the
morning service at Knox United Church.
Organ prelude by Mrs. Gordon Gross. Call
to worship, prayer of invocation and life and
work of the church wre given. The hymn of
praise was `Jesus where-er thy people
meet'. The senior choir sang '0 worship the
King' with choir director Lori Millian as
pianist The children's hymn `Birds are
singing was sung. The children's story was
given and they then went to Sunday School
with teachers Mrs. Middlekamp and the
Cunningham girls. Rev. Pickell's sermon
was entitled `Windows into heaven'.
Prayers of commitment and concern were
given followed by the Lord's prayer. The of-
fering was received by Larry Plaetzer and
Greg Park. The minister pronounced the
benediction and the service closed with the
congregational benediction.
UCW Easter service
The Auburn UCW met at the church on
April 22. Guests were present from
Goderich, Benmiller and the village.
Mrs. Gordon Gross opened the service
with a poem followed by the singing of the
hymn 'Lead me to Calvary'. Mrs. Marinus
Bakker read the scripture and Mrs. Gross
gave the meditation talking about the stone
on Christ's grave and comparing Mary to
the women of today. Miss Tammy Shut-
tleworth, Karen Bakker, Anita Gross and
Lori Millian sang `Do_you know Jesus' ac-
companied by Mrs. Bary Millian.
Mrs. Elliot Lapp introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. R. Gelwicks of Blyth.
Mrs. Gelwicks began her inspiring ad-
dress with the poem `Footprints in the sand'
and spoke of the prescence of God in our
lives and how Christ carries us through dif-
ficulties. She spoke on several people in the
old and new testament and of their desire to
be like God. She also spoke on love and
security in God and the knowledge that he
will not forsake us. We must learn to live
and love by Faith. She told of her own likfe
and how she learned to know and unders-
tand God. Eventually she and her husband
went to Bible School and then he went into
the ministry. Mrs. Robert Arthur thanked
Mrs. Gelwicks and everyone showed their
appreciation. Mrs. Fred Armstrong closed
the worship with prayer.

Eleven Londesboro citizens attended the
Summerhill dessert euchre and bake sale on
April 22. Those that made the trip were Beth
Knox, Gloria McEwing, Vietta Hoggarth,
Margaret Taylor, Jean Scott, Hazel Reid,
Addie Hunking, Betty Hulley, Estella
Adams, Laura Lyon and Dora Shobbrook.
The end of the season shuffleboard games
were played on April 15 with 12 in
attendance.
The winners were Helen Lawson and
Lorne Honking.' Lunch was served at the
close of the season.

WI annual banquet
There were 22 members and two visitors
at the WI annual banquet held Thursday
April 23 at the Candlelight in Goderich. The
meeting opened with the Institute Ode, Col-
lect, Grace and the Queen.
The president, Mrs. Len Archambault,
welcomed all. The minutes and financial
report were given by the secretary, Mrs.
Robert Peck and the correspondence was
read, The District president, Mrs. Lois
Elliot, spoke to the women on tips to im-
prove our knowledge, changes in WI pro-
grams and on public relations. The district
annual will be held at Blyth on May 25. All
conveners gave their yearly reports and
were handed in.
Lois Elliot installed the officers and con-
veners of standing committees for 1987-88.
They are as follows: Mrs. Len Archambault
(president), Mrs. Don Cartwright (1st vice-
president), Mrs. Charles Merrill (2nd vice-
president), Mrs. Robert Peck (secretary),
Mrs. Don Haines (assistant secretary),

Mrs. Emerson Rodgers, Mrs. Dorothy Ben -

May 3 at the Sunday School at 10 p.m. Bible
study will be held on May 1 at the home of
Margaret Whyte.
The anthem was sung by the men's choir.
The choir director was Marshz Szusz and
the organist was Deanna Lyon.
Children's time included a song and a
story. The junior teachers were Debbie
Albrecht and Kitty McGregor.

Step dancing
On May 14 the students of Cheryl Bromley
will be showing off their step dancing talents
at their recital at Hullett Central School.
The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Cheryl and the
kids hope everyone will want to attend and
enjoy the good time.
Special guests this year are Kelly
Bosman, Deanna Lyon, Lisa Bosman and
Beth Knox. Marie Flynn will be at the piano
and Jack Lee will be the master of
ceremonies.
The students are from Auburn, Walton,
Blyth and Londesboro.
