He is p ctured above with one of his employees, Sharon Hall. Poultry Place opens in town By Dawn Hunking CLINTON - Recently, a new business opened up in Clinton, called The Poultry Place. The owner, Nick Den Boer, also has another store located at RR3, Clinton. This is also the location where all the poultry is grown and prepared for sale. The Poultry Place., now located on King Street, formerly Mathers' Siding, is open five days a week, and employs three people, Ron Yantzi, Rea Reinink, and Sharon Hall. Mr. Den Boer has been in the poultry business one and a half years and says he enjoys making the products, which is the reason he began the business. Children's choir performs HURONVIEW — A special Easter service was held on Saturday featuring a children*s choir and adult soloists .in an Easter Can- tata. Rev. Dave Snihur officiated. On Tuesday evening members of CNIB accompanie by Evelyn Archer, attended the first meeting of the spring. Betty Rogers, Mary Gibbings, Evelyn Ar- cher, Jack Carter, Wayne Lester, and Margaret Glavin journeyed to Fairview Mennonite Home in Cambridge for the spr- ing meeting of Region 3. The craft workshop enjoyed a Sweet Pease demonstraton by Geraldine Pease whose dolls were featured in the November issue of Chatelaine. In the afternoon, they gathered back in the craft room to listen to Dr. Delton Glebe of the Seminary at Wilfrid Laurier University who spoke on The Care Giver Coping with Grief. On Saturday, M. Marwick, M. McLaughlin, C. Steels, J. Turner, and G. Peck accompanied by E. Archer attended the Seaforth Harmony Kings fifth Annual Barbershop Spring Show. The Harmony Kings put on the skit The Final Diagnosis with many familiar songs sung throughout. They enjoyed the Harmony Hi-Lites and Local Quartets, along with their special guests, Canadian Capers and Comedy Quartet. A recent draw for a quilt was won by Barbara Hicks and the tupperware hamper was won by Julie Engel. Sympathy is expressed to the family of Charles Dalrymple. Huronview residents welcome Fred McClymont from Clinton to Summerhill, and Felix LaPaine who is now residing in Summerhill on Vacation Care. Monday afternoon euchre CLINTON - Monday afternoon euchre results for April 27 have Ruth Fisher winn- ing the ladies' high hands and Mary Puffer winning the ladies' low hands. In the men's category, Ed Deeves was the high winner with Bert Gliddon taking the low hands. Donna Tyndall was the lone hand winner for the ladies with Grace White win- ning in the men's division. Video tells about school board By Wilma Oke A short video clip was shown to the trustees of the Huron -Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School Board at their meeting. Made by Tracey I,uciani of Listowel, who is a CKNX reporter, the video clip, explained the purpose of the Catholic School System and provides a glimpse of the four levels of schooling for which the board is responsible -primary, junior, in- termediate and senior divisions. Its first showing will be during the Educa- tion Week display at the Stratford Mall beginning Thursday. It will also be used as part of the opening of the Provincial Educa- tion Week in Perth County in April, 1988, also at the Board's display at the Interna- tional Plowing Match in September, 1988, when the plowing match is held in Perth County near Stratford. Lin Steffler of Walton, a board office employee for the past 17 years, has been of- fered the position in the board office which will lead to the position of accountant. Her new position will commence May 18 at an annual salary of .$27,500. She will retain cur- rent responsibilities for transportation. Two new class •t om teachers have been hired to start work on September 1 at St. Michael Secondary School in Stratford. Quarters, dimes and nickels with suitable engraving, a picture of the King and Queen, and signed by H.if. Mason, president of the Lions Club will he passed out as change. These wooden coins can he redeemed for cash or kept as souvenirs. ('KNX To Carry Coronation Broadcast - ('KNX, Wingham, "Our Home Station" will carry the broadcast of the Coronation ceremonies on May 12, and the special pro- grams throughout the day. The details are not yet completed. but the broadcast will start early in the morning and will continue until the evening hours. Clinton Will Make Contributions For Relief of Victims - Rivers swelled by a con - They are Jim Gaylor, presently head of the science department at Mitchell District High School, and Sister Mary Margaret Parent, an Ursuline Sister, presently work- ing in adult education with the Public School Board in Windsor. Diane Lalonde was hired as a special education teacher at St. Joseph's School in Clinton effective September 1, while Cathy Drennan was transferred from St. Joseph's School in Clinton to St. Joseph's School in Kingsbridge. Wilma VanBakel was hired as itinerant core French teacher for Stratford school, ef- fective September 1. Over 60,000 people were forced from their homes, and the property damage is estimated at $3,000,000. 75 years ago May 2, 1912 The Auto Destroyed - A peculiar accident resulting in the destruction of the auto of Mr. Geo. Turner of near Brucefield took place on Tuesday afternoon. The machine had just been backed out of the garage and had been cranked up by Mrs. Turner, who is herself an expert driver, when in some man- ner it took fire and in a short time everything about it that would burn went up in smoke. Gone - The telephone gang which have been operating in town for the past two mon- ths completed the work here and left on Monday for London. The young men made many friends while in town and all were sorry to see them leave. R.J. Is O.K. - Mr. R.J. Cluff has received considerable unpleasant publicity in con- nection with the license investigation now going on at Goderich into the charges made by Mr. Mike Farr.
