Education rally held
CLINTON - Christian Education Week
was very busy for students, staff, and
parents of Clinton and District Christian
School. (CDCS)
All science fair projects were on display.
Staff evaluated these student exhibits and
ribbons denoting the final standings were
awarded. Many excellent science projects
were on display.
Parents and friends visited the
classrooms on April 8. It is always challeng-
ing to both teachers and students to have
these visitors. The PTA board members
looked after refreshments and also provided
babysitting.

The CCEF Rally held, April 10, was a long
day for students. Two practice sessions
were held during the_day. In the evening
program, the CDCS massed choir perform-
ed their four songs very well. This evening
of praise songs, also had key note speaker,
Dr. Joel Nederhood, speak about concerning
the great value of making Christian tex-
tbooks available.
This week the students will do their share
in raising money for Christian textbooks by
way of special sales at school. They
welcome the Easter time when once again
they may remember the Lord's death and
resurrection.
Soup's on at Wesley Willis
CLINTON - The business meeting of the
Wesley Willis UCW was held on April 1 with
President Peggy Menzies in the chair.
Elaine Bechtel opened the meeting with the
devotion period and the minutes of the
March meeting were read by Ruth Bond and
treasurer's report given by Marilyn Parr.
Five ladies will be attending the quilt
show at St. Marys on May 7. A Federation of
Agriculture dinner is to be served to 50 peo-
ple on April 11.
Soups -on, a luncheon of soup, sandwiches,
fruit cup and squares will be held on April 30
in the church hall. The Good -Will truck will
be picking up appliances and clothing, as
usual, in May.
An appeal will be made on Family Sun-
day, May 10 for articles needed for Friend-
ship House in Goderich.
The Demonstration of Creative Cooking
was held in the Clinton Town Hall on April 6.
A very enthusiastic crowd was in atten-
dance, and enjoyed the great cooking in-
structions by the economists Brenda In -
grata and Donna Sunter of Toronto, both
graduates of Guelph college. Several dishes
were made, cooked, and decorated, ready
for serving, showing many new ideas, and
these were given away as draws.
At intermission, the lucky names were:

trip recalled
CLINTON — The Afternoon Unit of On-
tario Street church met in the ladies' parlor
With 24 members and 'one visitor present.
Alice Lawson read the Scripture. Hazel
Parker lead in prayer and Hazel Matheson
gave a reading. The offering was taken by
Lula and dedicated by Vera McGregor.
Vera McGregor introduced the speaker,
Margaret Taylor who had been on a 29 day
trip to Japan, China, India and Nepal. She
was most interesting and showed some pic-
tures. She also had some beautiful hand
work that she brought back. She was thank-
ed by Vera McGregor.
Minutes of last meeting were read and
adopted. There were 11 home and 18 hospital
calls reported. Treasurer's report was given
and thank you notes were read.
The May Time coffee party is to be held at
the Church on May 14 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Executive meeting of UCW is to be held at
7:30 p.m. on April 14.

Gibson -Menzies
Marianne Alexis Menzies, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. E. Beecher Menzies, Clinton, and
William Thomas Gibson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Gibson of RR5 Clinton, were
united in marriage on Saturday, March 28 in
Wesley -Willis United Church. Rev. Albert
E.A. Menzies, grandfather of the bride,
assisted by Rev. James Bechtel, conducted
the late afternoon ceremony. Margot Men-
zies, sister of the bride, was the maid of
honor. She and bridesmaids Wendy Mid-
degaal, Clinton, friend of the bride, Mary
Gibson, Clinton, sister of the groom, and
Carolyn Wood, Toronto, friend of the bride,
wore ankle length gowns of emerald green
velvet. Their bouquets were of white or-
chids, roses and stephanotis and ivy.
Assiting the groom was the best man, Brian
Falconer, Clinton, friend of the groom. The
guests were ushered in by Paul Middegaal,
Clinton, friend of the groom, Robert Men-
zies, London, brother of the bride and
Beecher Menzies Jr., Ottawa, brother of the
bride. The wedding reception and dinner
was held at the Stanley Township Complex,
Varna, afterwhich the newlyweds left for a
trip to the Dominican Republic. The bridal
couple are residing in Tuckersmith
Township.
Goderich Township native
dies at age 79 in Clinton
Vera Ellen Hudie
Vera Ellen Hudie of Clinton died in Clinton
Public Hosptial on April 7. She was 79.
Mrs. Hudie was born on June 15, 1907 in
Goderich Township to the late John Alex-
ander and Mable Elizabeth (Johnston ) Cox.
On December 29, 1927, she married the late
Thomas Hudie at the Cox farm in Goderich
Township.
Following their marriage in 1927 they
farmed in Goderich Township until 1965,
when they sold the farm and moved to Clin-
ton where Mrs. Hudie has resided since.
Mrs. Hudie, who was an ACW member for
St. James Church, Middleton. is survived by

She was predeceased by one sister, Blan-
che Cox and by one brother in infancy.
A funeral service was held on April 9 at
the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home with
Rev. Aubrey Bell officiating.
Pallbearers were Jerry Cox, Brian Cox,
Terry Cox, John Edgar, Jack Glover and
John Hudie. The flower bearers were Craig
Cox, Jason Cox, Ray Cox and Donald
Harris.
